We’ve been keeping a close eye on Tropical Storm Elsa over the past few days and providing you with updates so you can be prepared for any potential impact it might have on your trip to Disney World.

Yesterday, a flood watch and tornado watch was put in place for parts of Disney World. Last night, the EPCOT Forever fireworks were also canceled and Tropical Storm Elsa was also upgraded to a hurricane. What’s the status of the storm now? We’ve taken a look at recent reports and are providing you with an update.

At around 8:30 AM EDT, WESH 2 News provided an update on Tropical Storm Elsa. While the storm had been upgraded to a hurricane yesterday, it has since weakened to a Tropical Storm again.

When and where is Tropical Storm Elsa expected to make landfall? Well, according to FOX 35 News, Elsa is expected to make landfall on the Northern Florida Gulf coast.

Elsa is currently moving northward at 14 mph with sustained winds of 65 mph. It is expected to weaken as it moves inland.

WESH 2 News reports that earlier this morning Florida Governor Ron DeSantis noted that up to 26,000 utility customers were without power with the majority of outages located in Polk, Pinellas, and Hillsborough counties. But, the governor noted that there had been no reports of significant structural damage across the state from the storm.

What should you expect to see in Orlando today? FOX 35 News reports that visitors to and residents of Central Florida should know that “heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and a few isolated tornados are possible during this time.”

The FOX 35 Storm Team notes that there is a flood watch in place for Orange County. Additionally, they’ve shared that Central Florida can expect between 2-4 inches of rain (with maximums up to 6 inches) through Wednesday night.

In terms of weather alerts, FOX 35 News has shared that there is a Tropical Weather Statement that has been issued until Wednesday at 12PM EDT. According to that statement, the National Weather Service has indicated that there is a possible threat to life or property in various counties in Florida including Orange and Osceola.
