A MAJOR Magic Kingdom Icon is Undergoing Refurbishment!

Disney World is undergoing a LOT of changes as the parks get ready for the 50th anniversary this October.

From store refurbishments to ride refurbishments, to hotel rethemes; there’s a lot that might look a little different next time you’re in Disney World. Now, one of the most ICONIC landmarks in all of Magic Kingdom is getting refurbished too!

Anyone walking up to Cinderella Castle is greeted by the heartwarming Partners Statue, an installation of Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse with the Walt quote, “We believe in our idea: a family park where parents and children could have fun – together.”

This iconic statue is a Magic Kingdom icon and on our visit to the park today, we noticed that there’s a new sign. It looks like the Partners Statue will see some routine maintenance ahead of the 50th!

The sign notes that “Partners” is receiving routine care through a process of removing oxidation buildup from patinated bronze. The multi-phase endeavor involves stripping the sculpture to its bare metal “before cleaning, reapplying a patina, and coating the entire figure in protective polymer and wax.”

For now, the statue looks much the same as it usually does save for the sign, but you can bet we’ll be keeping a close eye on it. Check back with DFB to keep up with alllll the progress!
