Disney+ took the streaming world by storm when it launched back in November of 2019.
Since then, we have seen the premiere of major blockbuster movies as well as critically acclaimed original series, like The Mandalorian. The service has been providing content for $7.99 a month without any ads in the middle of shows or movies — but, it may not stay that way forever.
Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Chapek was at the Goldman Sachs 30th Annual Communacopia Conference today, where he spoke about many things, including the future of advertising on Disney+.
Chapek said that advertising would look very different on Disney+ than it would on Hulu because of the child focused audience.
He then went on to say that right now, they are keeping things the way they are (with no ads), but that it’s a possibility that advertising on Disney+ may change in the future — they might look at different advertising opportunities across their platforms.
We heard Chapek speak a little on advertising on the streaming service back in June during a virtual Q&A session at the Credit Suisse Annual Communications Conference. The Disney CEO said they had no plans right now to have advertising-supported entry on Disney+, but they won’t limit themselves to say no to anything.
So, he is kind of sticking to the same message, just using different phrasing. Stay tuned to DFB for more news and updates about Disney entertainment.

Would you pay more for Disney+ if it meant there wouldn’t be any ads? Let us know in the comments!

If it was only $10 more then I probably would because I really HATE when commercials come up on you tube or other streaming channels. I usually stop watching those other streaming channels and you tube I just have to skip whenever possible.

No I will not pay more to have Disney + with no adds, when I’ve been having no adds up to now. I’m sooooo sick of Chapek just nickel and dimming us to death. I already feel that I don’t want to come to Disney anymore after my next trip. I feel if I’m going to have to pay a lot, I might as well start going to Universal Studios. That is something I have not done because when I travel to Orlando, Disney always was the better deal to me and just had all the magic of a great vaca. With free fast pass, free pick up from the hotel, all the perks at staying on the grounds not so much now… I am really sick of this money grubbing CEO. Now all this time no adds on Disney+ was just awesome and what I expect from a streaming app. Well if I have to have adds why even keep Disney + ? I’ll just get rid of it. I don’t need to have it. Beside I seen everything on it already anyway. I like watching my shows without adds. And personally, I’ll give up ever seeing Mandilorian or any of the Star Wars or anything else on there. I pay enough for cable, and I have Apple + without adds. I don’t need hulu, I never watch hulu. Oh I’m just fed up with Chapek. >.<

It isn’t enough he’s ruining the Disney park experience, the Disney board of directors needs to replace Bob Chapek before he alienates there entire customer base

I think Chapek needs to consider optics a bit more. He is coming across as only being interested in the almighty dollar. Yes, money is needed for improvements and development, but the way he is presenting himself and the actions he is supporting looks more like a money/power grab then improving the Disney experience. I feel certain Walt Disney himself would not approve. Chapek needs to reassess all these changes he is making and the optics to Disney fans. I am hearing more and more dissatisfied fans and threats to withhold any more money to Disney. They are fed up. If Chapek doesn’t start taking that into consideration, he will lose more money by implementing these things than gaining. I miss Bob Iger.

Big fat NOPE from me. Having the entertainment be able to play uninterrupted is such a huge deal for shows like Wandavision, Loki, and Mandalorian. To have those interrupted by ads would just ruin the experience of watching them. I think it would almost be worse than the ads that played during the online streams of the Olympics, and those actually played over the action!! The only way ads would be palatable is if they were for other Disney+ offerings and only at the beginning of shows, like trailers at the movies. But NO to merchandise and NO to ads during “commercial breaks”.

Subscriptions are not supposed to have advertisements that’s the point of the subscription will not pay to watch commercials
