EPCOT is a pretty exciting place to be right now!
Not only did the new Space 220 restaurant open this week and the new Creations Shop and Club Cool opened last week, but Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and the France Expansion open next week too! All of that is pretty exciting, so you might be planning to make sure you get to EPCOT as EARLY as possible on your next visit.
Getting to a Disney World park right when it opens is often called “rope dropping.” And, if you’re looking to rope drop EPCOT soon, we might have a pretty big tip!Â
Rope dropping usually means getting to a park as early as you can, often much earlier than the park opens. This is a useful trick for riding popular rides like Test Track or for getting in line for certain offerings like the CROWDED Creations Shop or a seat at Space 220 Lounge.
Yesterday, we rope dropped EPCOT for a chance at a table at Space 220, considering the restaurant will not start using its reservation system until Monday (it’s currently operating on a first-come, first-serve basis). We had a good amount of luck taking the monorail to rope drop EPCOT; could this be the best way to make sure you’re in the park as early as possible?
Yesterday morning, we decided to head to EPCOT from the Transportation and Ticket Center via monorail. They opened the gate to the station a few minutes before 10AM (EPCOT opened at 11AM). There was a bit of a hold-up for loading, but once we loaded into the monorail we were off! Heads up, they closed the doors pretty soon after we loaded in so if you’re not waiting when it opens, you may miss the first trip.
We were in EPCOT by 10:15 and just had a quick walk downstairs to get in line for the ticket scanners. Since we went through security at the TTC, we didn’t have to do it again. That meant our reporter was one of the first people to get to the park gates and then into the park!Â
This was a pretty great outcome since rope dropping with other transportation methods may not be as smooth. If you drive and arrive too early, you may get turned away at the parking toll gate. And whether you drive or take a bus, you’ll have to walk a lot farther from the parking lot and go through security, even if you arrive at the same time as the monorail.
We were able to get into the park a lot earlier than some guests traveling via other transportation methods so it was a pretty great trick! Once they let guests into the park, we were able to head straight to sign up for the virtual line at Space 220.
Of course, Disney transportation times do vary so this might not always be the case, but the monorail seemed to be one of the best rope drop methods for EPCOT this morning. It might be worth a shot next time you plan to rope drop the park! As always, keep an eye on DFB for all the latest Disney tips and updates!
