One of our favorite spots for a treat in Disney World is Gideon’s Bakehouse in Disney Springs.
Gideon’s serves up giant cookies and even bigger slices of cake, and just about everything we’ve tried there has been delicious. Each month, you’ll find a new limited-edition offering at the Bakehouse, and we’ve already been in to try this month’s cookie. See what we thought here, and also check out the other limited-edition offerings for this month!
We headed into Disney Springs to check out Gideon’s new November menu.
Day of the Dead is November 1st and 2nd, but Gideon’s Bakehouse is celebrating this holiday all month long with the new Chocolate Churro Cookie AKA the Calavera Cookie. You can get one for $6.
This is a chocolate cookie that’s also filled with cinnamon sugar and a pinch of ancho and cayenne chili spices. There’s a layer of dulce de leche in the middle of each cookie as well. The cookies are topped with a mixture of different chocolates, including a Mexican Stone Ground Chocolate. These are available all month long, but there’s a limit of 2 per person.Â
We headed in to try out this new cookie, and we found that there were some spices on the outside of the cookie as well (on top of the chocolate). In general, we thought the Calavera Cookie was absolutely delicious.
Our favorite part was probably the dulce de leche filling in the middle — it gave the cookie an extra kick of sweetness, which was good because the spices made the rest of the cookie a little less sweet. It tasted like a cinnamon caramel, which balanced out the spicy cayenne in the dough and on top.
Like most of the treats we’ve had here, the cookie was fresh and very moist. It’s less sweet than it looks, so even if you’re not crazy about super sweet desserts, we think you’ll still love this. If you don’t like spicy flavors, you might want to go for a different cookie instead (the pistachio cookie is another one of our favorites!), but we thought the spices were really tasty and not too overpowering.Â
Another option if you’re heading to Gideon’s in November is their Pumpkin Caramel Double Frosted Cake. This is layers of both pumpkin and caramel buttercream on a vanilla cinnamon cake. It’ll be available through all of November as well.
If you’re looking for a treat in Disney Springs, we highly recommend the Calavera cookie (or anything from Gideon’s, really). Keep following DFB for more updates on new treats in Disney World!

I used to think the peanut butter pie at Contempo Cafe was the greatest dessert on the face on the planet. I’m now beginning to think that any cookie at Gideon’s wins that award. It must drive Disney F&B staff crazy that the most mind-blowing desserts in Walt Disney World come from an outside vendor rather than from a Disney owned location.
