There are lots of fantastic Disney characters, but the most iconic of them all is likely the mouse that started it all — Mickey!
We’ve seen all kinds of sweet treats themed to Mickey Mouse in Disney World, but what if you want to make your own version of a Mickey treat at home? You’ve come to the right place! We’ve shared lots of Disney recipes and craft ideas in the past, and today we’re sharing instructions on how to create your own Mickey Mouse cupcakes!
Recently, Disney shared some instructions for decorating Mickey Mouse cupcakes at home in honor of National Cupcake Day. The instructions were actually inspired by Disney’s partnership with Make-A-Wish. A few months ago, Disney granted one child’s wish to decorate cupcakes with Chef Minnie. That served as the inspiration for these special cupcake-decorating instructions which feature the one and only Chef Minnie!
Here’s what you need to get decorating at home.
Supplies
- Cupcakes (already baked, you can use any flavor you want)
- Red icing
- Piping bags
- A star pastry tip (optional)
- Round cookies for Mickey’s ears
- Small round yellow candies for Mickey’s buttons
- Napkins
Instructions
Now, it’s time to decorate! Here are the instructions from Chef Magaly and Chef Minnie. First, place the pastry tip inside your piping bag carefully. Then, cut the tip of the bag off.
Next, fill up the piping bag with red buttercream icing.
Once you’ve filled up your bag, you’re ready to begin decorating. To decorate, start by icing one “ring” of buttercream icing on the cupcake.
Then, place two yellow “buttons” in the front of the cupcake.
Use the icing bag to add 2-3 rounds of red icing on top.
Finally, stick two round cookies on the top of the icing to make Mickey’s ears.
And there you have it — your very own Mickey Mouse cupcake!
All that’s left to do is dig in! It’s a simple but fun way to add some extra magic to your cupcakes, whether they’ve been made for a birthday, special occasion, or just because!
