Have you had trouble finding a certain piece of merchandise in Disney World lately? You’re not alone! Over the past few months, Disney has been dealing with supply issues, and it’s affecting both restaurants and merchandise locations across the property. It seems like those supply chain issues are even impacting people on the distant planet of Batuu!

Bright suns from Galaxy’s Edge!
Over at Savi’s Workshop in Galaxy’s Edge, things are looking a little different. Let’s take a look at what’s going on in Disney’s Hollywood Studios!
Under normal circumstances, guests can build their own lightsaber at Savi’s Workshop in Galaxy’s Edge. The customized lightsabers cost $219.99 each and (usually) include a black carrying case.

Savi’s Workshop is tucked away in Galaxy’s Edge
Currently, due to supply issues, the black carrying case is not available with the purchase of a custom lightsaber. Instead, guests are receiving a 10% discount according to a Cast Member. Upon purchase, we noticed that guests were offered a plastic bag to carry their lightsaber. Additionally, guests were informed that they could purchase a different carrying case at Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities.

Over at Dok Ondar’s, there were plenty of these fabric carrying cases. These bags are available for 50 “credits” AKA $50.

These fabric carrying cases are also available
We saw several guests purchasing the carrying case at Dok Ondar’s, but keep in mind this is completely optional.

Even galaxies far, far away have supply issues!
We’ll continue to monitor the situation so we can let you know when the old carrying cases return! In the meantime, stay tuned for all the latest Disney news and park updates!

Thank you so much for sharing this info!! My husband and I are going in a few weeks and have a lightsaber build booked! You guys are always on top of it and it’s knowing small things like this in advance that helps to set us up with proper expectations. THANK YOU!!
Hey, I have mine from when I built my lightsaber at Galaxy’s Edge in 2019. I wonder if I could get $100 for it? 🙂
So they are giving guests a $20 discount and offering to sell them a saber case for $50? And you are paying $200 to carry the saber out in a plastic bag? Ridiculous!
Also were guests notified of this supply issue before making their purchase?
Built my Lightsaber back in early December and came with the case. They even were offering upgrades like the stand and belt clip.
Only problem I ran into was the “Prize” for completing the Christmas Tree stroll in Disney Springs. All the redemption shops were out and they weren’t sure when they get more. Sdly,, I did the CTS on my last day in WDW.
A lot of drama came with WDW agreeing to give that discount!
Hi Yaffa! It doesn’t appear that guests were warned before making their purchases so what Disney World has done instead is offer a discount on the Lightsabers until the carrying cases have been restocked.
How exciting, Vicki! You’ll have to let us know which side your husband chooses!
