One of Disney World’s fanciest hotels is about to get even fancier.
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is a Deluxe-level resort, and it’s also on the Magic Kingdom Monorail loop. It has gorgeous lakeside views, some fantastic dining, and prices to match. Now Disney has set the date for some MAJOR refurbishments, which are happening at this fancy hotel soon!
We heard before that Disney is remodeling the Big Pine Key building (building 9) of Grand Floridian to change the rooms there into 200 Disney Vacation Club villas. The studios and 1-bedroom villas will sleep up to 5 guests each, and the 2- and 3-bedroom villas will accommodate 9 and 12 guests, respectively. These rooms will be reserved for DVC members. Grand Floridian had 100 DVC villas before, so this refurbishment will triple the available studios and villas.
Now, Disney has announced that this refurbishment will begin on March 1st, 2022. It was announced previously that the villas will open this summer (2022), although a specific end date for the construction has not yet been given.
We’ve already seen some concept art for the new DVC villas, including a look at the resort studios…
…and 3-bedroom villas.
You can check out more of the concept art here!
Big Pine Key faces out onto the Seven Seas Lagoon, so it looks like these villas will have great views of the lake and Magic Kingdom. Note that this refurbishment will mean there are fewer non-DVC rooms at Grand Floridian, so it’s possible that it will become more difficult to find availability for regular (non-DVC) rooms if you’re looking to stay here. Make sure to book your stay as far in advance as possible to ensure you get the hotel you want!
We can’t wait to check out these new villas when they open this summer. Stay tuned with DFB for more of the latest news from Disney World!
