Every day brings us just a little bit closer to the inaugural voyage of the Disney Wish cruise ship (and we can hardly wait!). We’ve gotten so many details recently about what will be coming to the Wish like what entertainment, food, and merchandise will be available onboard!
Today, the Disney Wish hit another huge milestone on its way to being seaworthy ahead of its inaugural sail on July 14th!
The cruise ship was being constructed in Germany at a shipyard called Meyer Werft. On February 11th, Disney Wish finally hit water for the first time, and today, it is on its way to the Netherlands before it heads out into the North Sea for sea trials, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
On March 31st, the ship left the Meyer Werft Shipyard in Germany, and it’s headed towards open water fore the first time ever!
After nearly two years of construction, this is the biggest milestone the ship has hit. Here is the ship traveling past a field full of sheep on its way to open water!
The ship is so close to setting sail, and we’ll keep you updated on all of the latest happenings with the Disney Wish!
The Disney Wish is the first of three new ships coming to the Disney Cruise Line fleet over the next few years. The second and third unnamed ships are set to be coming in 2024 and 2025. It joins four other ships in the Disney Cruise Line fleet: the Disney Magic, the Disney Wonder, the Disney Dream, and the Disney Fantasy.
The Disney Wish is notable because it will be the biggest in Disney’s fleet and is the first ship to feature Minnie as captain of the ship rather than Mickey, and her picture can even be found on the front of the ship.
Disney Wish is also making history as the cruise ship with the Disney’s first ever attraction at sea, the AquaMouse. There’s certainly more news to come as the Disney Wish prepares to set sail out of Cape Canaveral this July, so stay tuned to DFB for all the latest updates!
