Here at DFB, we love trying new food. Recently, we’ve tried a Bunny Butt Cookies and Cream Cheesecake, a Spiked Hibiscus Lemonade, and all things coconut over at Gideon’s Bakehouse in Disney Springs. And today, we’re trying something completely different.
We headed over to Columbia Harbour House in the Magic Kingdom to try to the Sea Captain Catch sandwich.
The Sea Captain Catch is fried fish with cabbage slaw and tartar sauce served on a black bun. So, it kinda looks fun and adventurous, which might push you outside of your comfort zone a bit! We found the fish to be crispy and not at all soggy, though it was a little on the drier side, but that was nothing that a couple of extra packets of tartar sauce couldn’t fix!
The cabbage slaw looked and tasted like it had kale in it which added a bit of bitterness. And we weren’t crazy over the black bun, though it definitely made the sandwich look cool. We have seen similar buns before and they add a bit of pizazz to the visual of the burger for sure!
If you’re someone who likes fish and chips, you’d probably like this sandwich a lot. It’s also great if you’re looking for something that will fill you up, but won’t be as heavy as a burger. We will say that there are better options at Columbia Harbor House even for fish lovers. Read our latest review here to see what may sound more enjoyable to you!
If you’d like to try this sandwich, you can find it over at Columbia Harbour House in Magic Kingdom for $13.29! Make sure to stay tuned to DFB for more Disney food news and reviews!

I had the clam chowder last month and it was served in a “black bun”. I was a little taken aback by the bun but it was really delicious.
That’s the black bun used for the dark side burgers at various places. They used to serve the soup in a pumpernickel bread so maybe its the same thing sized for burgers. I certainly would try it because I love fish sandwiches, but I do long for them to permanently bring back the Lighthouse sandwich, my favorite WDW lunch. Seeded toasted bread, hummus, broccoli slaw and tomato, totally healthy, filling and good.
I had it a few months ago. It was awful.
