There’s a lot going on at EPCOT! Connections Cafe and Eatery have been undergoing soft openings, (with an official opening date set for this Wednesday, April 27th!), Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is set to open next month, and there are a lot of other ongoing construction projects happening at this park.
One of those ongoing construction projects is Journey of Water — inspired by Moana. This walk-through attraction is meant to be a “lush exploration trail” that will allow guests to play and interact with water. The construction area for this attraction is entirely hidden by walls from the ground, but hop on the Monorail and you’ve got a pretty decent look into it, so let’s take a look!
Journey of Water is located in the World Nature area of EPCOT (which also includes The Land and The Seas).
We’re starting to actual ROCK structures being built in the area, but they’re mostly still unrecognizable and are just concrete or steel beams. If it’s meant to be lush and natural looking, it still has a ways to go. But it’s still exciting to see some tangible vertical progress on this attraction!
We don’t have a lot of details about the attraction, but Disney has shared that it is meant for us to “learn about the importance of the natural water cycle.” There’s a lot of construction machinery moving stuff like dirt around to change the geography of the area.
In addition to concrete structures and steel beams, there’s multiple mounds of dirt. These may become apart of the geography of the attraction, or they may be removed.
Disney still hasn’t announced an opening timeframe for Journey of Water, but, based on these photos, it looks like there may still be a long ways to go.
We’ll be sure to keep checking as construction progresses, so be sure to stay tuned to DFB for more updates!

This Moana water feature better be good, the fountains were always amazing. WD Imagineers have missed the mark on most of the new attractions over the past 10 years. They just do not seem to be groundbreaking like the Universe of Energy, The Land and Test Track factory when they opened. The new Connections dining are sucks…looks like a cafeteria, very cold and uninspired and the Connections store has a huge problem with the setting sun at the end of the day pearling thru the upper windows and roasting shoppers. Poor planning for sure. And finally I got to see the Humungus show on the lake. What a disappointment. A loud, unrecognizable wall of sound that was not Disneylike at all. Loud and a poor replacement for Illuminations. Very disappointing.
