Exciting things are happening in Disney World! Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is opening in just a few weeks (!!) and we’ve already gotten a sneak peek at the ride! Also over in EPCOT, we recently got some updates on ongoing construction projects like Journey of Water — inspired by Moana and a new character meet and greet location called Mickey and Friends!
One construction project that we haven’t heard as many updates on is the new rollercoaster coming to Magic Kingdom: TRON Lightcycle Run. Yesterday, we saw that a ride vehicle was undergoing testing, and today Disney shared a behind-the-scenes look at the testing for the ride!
In the video shared on Instagram, you can see the first full-speed test run of the rollercoaster! The video shows the launch as well as some of the track, and finally the train returning to the station.
Disney is slowly moving through the stages of testing for this coaster. They begin by testing only portions of the ride vehicle, as well as the full vehicle at various speeds, and eventually will begin testing with weighted test dummies.
This ride was originally slated to open in time for Disney World’s 50th Anniversary on October 1st, 2021, but this timeline was pushed back. Disney still has not shared any details about when we can expect to ride this rollercoaster.

There is no way it will be opening before we go, but how long does it look before they have the tunnel or whatever set for the train to open back up. My kids missed out on the train when we went last time because it was already closed. This will be the last time we will go where I think they would super appreciate it as a fun experience. Sad to see it still closed.
Hope the ride is longer than that clip was 🤣🤣
No really I hope it is 🤞
