Have you ever imagined what it might be like to live in a Disney community?
Disney has! That’s why it recently announced the Storyliving by Disney project, which is a project that will build Disney residential communities across the country. One of the first is a luxurious community called Cotino in California’s Coachella Valley, which the company broke ground on back in April. Now, Disney has shared some concept art designs of what the houses in Cotino might look like.
Disney’s Imagineering team worked with DMB Development and architectural firm WHA to create some home concept ideas that builders can use to create houses in the Cotino community. And to say these designs are nice is an understatement!
However, building in the community cannot begin until the City of Rancho Mirage reviews the development plan, which will include these works of concept art.
Disney noted that the plans being submitted are “not intended to be actual homes; they are meant to be representative inspiration of the types of homes and designs that builders will offer in the Cotino community.”
You can get another look at some “home inspiration concepts for Cotino” by checking out the video below.
Cotino, a Storyliving by Disney community, will feature a lot of extra Disney details, unique amenities, and Disney touches. The community is expected to open in 2024 for homeowners of all ages, although one section will be specifically for those ages 55 and up. Those interested in buying a home in the community will be able to do so in early 2023.
Disney’s website states that Cotino will have “a range of home types to choose from, including condominiums and single-family homes.” The hope is to have a community with different types of housing and commercial buildings.
So how much will one of these homes cost? Disney has not yet released any details about pricing, but we researched Disney’s existing communities and dug into the details — be sure to check that out here if you’re looking into potentially buying into Cotino or one of Disney’s other residential communities.
For those with less of a budget, Disney is also building an affordable housing project near Orlando. The plans call for more than 1,300 units of various home types. It will be close to the new Flamingo Crossings Town Center area, which includes shops, restaurants, an emergency medical care facility, and a new housing project for Disney College Program participants.

Any idea how much membership will cost to be a member of Cotino?

If Celebration, FL is any gauge of pricing, last year, a 2BR 2Ba condo was listing for over $800K. If you have the cash to throw around and want to live in a quiet idyllic “Main Street USA” type of place, then Celebration is for you. Be aware though, that if you “buy” in Celebration, you’re not really buying anything, but leasing from Disney for 99 years.

They look nice. The only problem is that their out in the middle of nowhere in the desert with nothing around.
