Happy 626 Day!
Today, we honor one of our favorite aliens, Experiment 626 — Stitch! June 26th (get it…626) marks the special “holiday” where we get to celebrate the little guy. We’ve seen fun items like kitchen accessories, plushes, and bags! A special treat also returned to Disney World for the occasion, but…it looks different this year.
Last year, we tried the adorable Stitch Dome Cake from Capt. Cook’s at Disney’s Polynesian Resort! It was a royal blue cake that actually did a pretty good job representing Stitch! They even added the iconic duck with a heart. We also saw a cake like this in 2019, but the 2021 version was better in our opinion.
This year, we found the same treat over at Kona Island Coffee & Sushi. A Cast Member told us it was a chocolate cake on a sugar cookie base with a blue, chocolate ganache. And, as far as presentation goes…he looks odd this year. He was droopy, lumpy, and nothing like he was last year.
The taste was also lacking, as we were told it had a chocolate ganache, but we couldn’t taste the chocolate. We thought it tasted more like spice cake or a graham cracker flavor, and it did not look the same as last year’s chocolate cake. The ganache and icing were grainy and tasted like food coloring. Oh…and the black molding chocolate used for his eyes tasted like play-doh. (YIKES!)
Happy #626Day! 🎉

However, it wasn’t all bad, as we enjoyed the sugar cookie base, the cake was moist (sorry, we had to say it), and the white chocolate ears were tasty. So there’s that! We do think kids would like this treat, and if you’re not an adventurous eater but want a sweet treat, you might enjoy this! Cast Members told us that the treat is only available this weekend, so you’ll have to hurry if you want to grab it for $5.99.
So if you’re a fan of Stitch, you may enjoy the treat. But if you’re looking for solid flavor, you may want to pass this one. Instead, consider trying the Pride Liege that we really enjoyed! Or, if you want a good dome cake, we obsessed over this Pride Cheesecake Dome!
And we’ll continue reviewing snacks around Disney World, so stay tuned for the latest!
