Halloween is over and now Disney World is officially in holiday mode.
But we can’t forget that holiday that’s hidden in the middle of Halloween and Christmas — Thanksgiving!! Disney World has just released a slew of new treats to get us in the fall spirit. So be prepared to feast with your eyes today as we hoof it over to a Disney World Resort hotel for some exciting new fall treats!
We have already tried pumpkin muffins, orange cranberry scones, and a new cherry Dole Whip, and now we are headed over to Saratoga Springs Resort to try two more new treats!
From now until November 27th, you can find a Fall Whoopie Pie and a Mini Pumpkin Treat at The Artist’s Palette for $5.99 each.
First we tried the Mini Pumpkin. This little cutie of a treat is made with pumpkin mousse, caramel, dulce crunch, and chocolate decor. Can we talk about how utterly adorable this little pumpkin treat is?! It looks like a fall decoration you’d put on your Thanksgiving tablescape!
Pumpkin pie fans, this one is definitely for you — but you need to be QUICK to eat it as ours started melting as soon as we stepped outside (thanks, Florida!). The filling tastes exactly like pumpkin pie! The mousse was so light and fluffy — almost like if you were to whip pumpkin pie filling.
The dulce de leche crunchy pearls were a nice touch and helped break up the monotony of the mousse texture, though we certainly weren’t complaining. We couldn’t really taste any of the caramel inside the pumpkin, which probably would have added a nice, nutty sweetness to the pumpkin.
There was plenty of sweetness found in the chocolate pumpkin shell, though! It was REALLY sweet, and when paired with the mousse was a nice chance from the spice — but it wore out its welcome pretty quickly. This is a super fun treat and would be great for pumpkin fans. That is the main flavor though, so if pumpkin isn’t your thing this probably isn’t the dessert for you.
Whoopie Pies are something that tend to pop up more around the parks close to the holidays and can either be a big hit or a bit of a miss. So, we were excited to give this one a try. The Fall Whoopie Pie is made with pumpkin cake, cream cheese buttercream, and fall sprinkles. The ingredients are simple, but as you may have learned from reading DFB, sometimes simple is best with these treats!
Yep — simple is definitely the way to go here. The pumpkin cake is fluffy and moist, and has those warm, fall, spice flavors often found in pumpkin treats. It reminded us of a pumpkin bread more than a cake — it wasn’t overly sweet, which was a good thing in our book.
The cream cheese buttercream didn’t really taste like cream cheese to us, instead it just tasted like regular buttercream icing and was incredibly sweet. The sprinkles on the outside added a crunchy texture that we didn’t think was needed and the edges of the cake were a bit chewy in some spots.
You’ve definitely gotta be an icing fan to enjoy whoopie pies, and this one is no different. We were really hoping for more of that cream cheese to come through. If you’re looking for a fall treat, there are definitely better ones around Disney World — but if whoopie pies are your thing, give this one a shot!
We are just scratching the surface when it comes to all the new treats that were released today, so be sure to stay tuned to DFB for even more Thanksgiving treat reviews and more news throughout the holiday season.
