There’s a lot of food to eat in Disney World. And we mean a LOT.
We’ve tried dozens of restaurants, hundreds of snacks, and countless food items from the various EPCOT festivals. We’re constantly finding new things to eat, and today, we’re trying out the revamped menu at a quick service spot in Hollywood Studios!
Disney announced yesterday on social media that there would be NEW chicken and waffle bowls coming to Fairfax Fare on Sunset Boulevard. Formerly, this spot was home to a few different hot dog options, but now they’ve got an updated menu!
There are four different options, and even though Disney called them “chicken and waffle bowls” they’re not as chicken and waffle-esque as you might expect. They’re made with waffle bowls (like you’d use for an ice cream sundae) and filled with various savory meal combinations.
To start, we’ve got the Buffalo Chicken Bowl for $13.99. It’s made with chicken breast nuggets tossed in buffalo sauce, topped with coleslaw, and served on mashed potatoes in a waffle bowl.
The chicken itself is a little on the dry side, but the flavor is good and has a strong buffalo spice. The potatoes were honestly the star of the show here, creamy and DELICIOUS. The coleslaw was pretty standard and a nice addition to tie it together.
Next up is the Barbecued Beef Brisket Bowl for $14.79! Braised beef brisket is tossed in barbecue sauce, topped with pickled jalapenos, red onions, and corn chips, served with house-made queso sauce and mashed potatoes.
Once again, we’re on TEAM POTATO y’all. They’re amazing, and very flavorful. In the brisket bowl, the house-made queso on top of the potatoes really takes the flavor to the next level. The brisket is cooked to perfection, and we really enjoyed the crunchy balance of the Fritos on top. The relish is a little spicy, but it balances well.
Our third option is the Korean Barbecued Pork Belly Bowl. It’s $14.79 and made with braised pork belly tossed in Korean barbecue sauce, coleslaw, green onions, served on mashed potatoes.
The meat in this has a great saucy flavor, and every piece is well coated in that barbecue sauce. Again, we have to compliment those potatoes! The coleslaw on this one has a really good sweet flavor that we think works well with the other items.
Finally, there’s the Soba Noodle Salad Bowl for $12.99. This plant-based option has chilled soba noodles, edamame, red cabbage, red peppers, shredded carrots, celery, and green onions. It’s all tossed in Yakisoba sauce and served in a waffle bowl. You can add plant-based chicken for an additional $1.
This wasn’t our favorite of the four, but mostly because we were missing those potatoes. The noodles were a little chewy, and we were lacking some spice overall. If you’re looking for something unique that’s also vegan, this could be a good option.
That’s everything that’s new on the menu! Which one would you want to try? They’re definitely a fun and unique meal options in Hollywood Studios that was well-needed on Sunset Boulevard. We recommend stopping by to try these on your next visit — and tell us your thoughts on the potatoes!
