Disney is always working to gauge the guest experience and make adjustments along the way.
Walt Disney World’s newest guest survey may hint at possible changes to the guest experience!
We recently received this survey following one of our park visits, and it mainly focused on price and value. Now, normally these questions are accompanied by other atmospheric and general “how did you enjoy your visit” questions, but this survey was almost entirely specific to value as it relates to the cost of our trip.
Disney periodically sends out surveys like this one to guests as a means to gather information on the types of trips guests take, their spending habits, and expectations.
This survey in particular asked us to rate how the value compared to the total price paid for the most recent trip we took to Walt Disney World, encompassing the trip as a whole.
The survey continued to ask how we felt the value was in comparison to the price we paid, going as far as to break down each category for us to comment on. We’ve seen recent price increases in the parks, specifically in the areas the survey asked us to reflect on.
With property-wide price increases at restaurants such as Chef Mickey’s and Cinderella’s Royal Table, we don’t doubt that Disney is certainly trying to gauge guest reactions to these changes.
We also received this portion of the survey which asked us to recount our total spending on our visit.
Disney seems intent on analyzing purchasing habits and what we spend on our trips, and it may mean we see some changes regarding the value and pricing of Walt Disney World offerings.
Could this survey mean price changes across Disney World? It’s hard to tell, but the next part of the survey may offer a clue. This portion of the survey asked us how we made our visit more affordable and goes on to list various opportunities to save money.
This has us wondering if we may enter a promotional period where Disney decides to run more ticket, food and beverage, and service promotions like they have in the past.
The final part of the survey asked us about our engagement with the following rides. This has us wondering if Lightning Lane and Genie+ prices may see either an increase or decrease based on the demand outlined in this survey.
We, of course, don’t know anything concrete regarding what this survey means for changes in Disney World. We do know, however, that Disney seems keen on continuing to further their guest service through these surveys!

The biggest change I want to see is an end to the reservation system. Bring spontaneity back. And if crowds are the issue, here’s the solution: if you stay on property you get in no matter what; if you don’t, once they hit a magical number, you’re out of luck.

I was at Disneyland a few weeks ago, and I got the same survey (minus WDW exclusive rides).
Ira says
Oh, this doesn’t mean much. They know exactly how much money every WDW guest paid. EVERYTHING, every penny, is recorded data because it’s all connected to app. Cash spent? Come on. No one uses cash. They know to add 1% cash usage to their totals.
Regarding customer satisfaction regarding value? Come on again:
It’s a feel good marketing thing for them. They already know that 90% of guests feel everything is way too expensive.

Interesting….

All surveys are a joke as they just collect data and companies like Disney will make minimal changes for the better, if any.

Bob Iger has frequently commented that price increases at the parks have been too aggressive during recent years. He once again commented about it today during the Morgan & Stanley Q & A session. His comments include making Disney attainable for everyone which is different from the direction Chapek was taking things. This type of survey seems to connect to those concerns and wanting input from guests.

The only way to truly get their attention is not to go. Or not use Genie or not eat at the restaurants. The pricing structure for tickets is terrible. We have had annual passes since they were $400 a piece and now they are about $1000- and we are Dvc. They have taken so much of the magic away. They are beginning to be a lot like other theme parks. It makes me sad.

Genie plus is worse than Fastpass and it’s expensive. Get up early on vacation and stay tied to your phone. No thanks

Wish I had received this questionnaire. I would give them an earful!!

Scrap the running from ride to ride, phone to phone and let guests relax again. Disney should be a vacation trip not a daily marathon.
Samantha says
I received a survey yesterday which was Disneyland Paris specific and only asked questions about their Premier ride access service and what it would take to get me to buy it.
Jacqueline says
I get these surveys all the time. It always asks me how much my household income is at the end. I’m happy they are asking about their “value” but I’d like to see an actual change. I’m sure NO ONE no matter what your income is, is saying these prices are good. Everyone knows Disney is expensive and even worse now because everything is a La cart.
A loud statement to make everyone happy would be to abolish this Genie –
It’s absolutely awful.

I bought into the DVC in 2006 and WDW is my daughter’s 2nd home. Her 1st visit was when she was 8 yrs old, now she’s 52 yrs old and a 12 yr breast cancer survivor. Things at WDW have changed so much, and in my opinion, not for the better. We had the dreadful pandemic that took it’s toll on us all. In reference to the DVC membership, we are not given valuable perks, the physical DVC membership card should be brought back, especially for the seniors. Not everyone is dependent on their mobile device (i.e., “apps”). I feel it’s discriminatory against seniors. In addition, the food choices are ridiculously over-priced and limited. Lastly when WDW reopened they should’ve kept the workers that performed with pride and integrity. The new hires are not personable or favorable. The WDW magic is now very limited.

WDW is my favorite place to go. I used to stay at the Contemporary over and over, but then it became the Caribbean Beach many times. Now I don’t go near as often (last trip was 2012) and now it’s only at value resorts. Also, now I take some nonperishable food with me and I’ll buy little to no souvenirs.
