When it comes to change, we see a LOT of it happening ALL THE TIME at Disney World restaurants.
Not only are restaurant menus always being updated, but we also see a lot of snacks come and go. However, a NEW menu change at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa reflects a BIG change that is happening ALL across Disney World.
We previously reported that Disney has partnered with Seafood Watch, which is a conservation group based at the Monterey Bay Aquarium that rates seafood sustainability. Disney has since instructed its chefs to create dishes using seafood recommended by the group.
According to Seafood Watch, lobster is one of the red-listed foods, meaning that while American and Canadian lobster is not overfished, the equipment used in lobster fishing threatens an endangered species of whale. Therefore, the group recommends restaurants against using lobster in their dishes.
We’ve previously noticed that some Disney World restaurants have already pared back on offering lobster dishes on their menus. Lobster dishes have been removed from menus at Coral Reef, Space 220, and other Disney World restaurants, and a lobster roll at the Food & Wine Festival was replaced with a sandwich made with crab.
Well, we’re noticing even more lobster dishes falling off menus, particularly at the Grand Floridian Cafe. Both the Lobster Thermidor Burger and the Lobster Eggs Benedict have been removed from the menu. They have been replaced by the Grand Floridian Café Signature Burger (for $23) and the Smoked Salmon Florentine Benedict (for $20).
However, lobster dishes remain on the menu at other Disney World restaurants, such as The Boathouse and Paddlefish.
Will we see even more lobster removed from menus at Disney World? We’re not sure, but we will continue to keep an eye on restaurant menus and let you know when they change, so stay tuned to DFB for more.

Franklin Haney says
Not all Dining Venues at WDW are owned by Disney. Therefore they don’t have to abide by Disney’s Woke agenda
Mimi says
Incredibly disappointed by this. That’s all I order! The lobster Benedict is my favorite and our daughter always gets the burger. Disney blows it big time with this move. Shocker. 🙄
Lucretia Kleinman says
It’s not WOKE. It’s caring and thughtful.
Jim says
Frank, why do you Americans insist on invoking the “woke” word for any action that you don’t agree with. It’s a political word that promotes hate and ignorance.
Janet C says
Ridiculous
R McD says
With only about 350 North Atlantic Right Whales left, I’m happy to see WDW making efforts to protect them. After all, they pride themselves on their Conservation efforts, it would be a tad hypocritical to ignore an opportunity to protect an endangered (or critically endangered, depending on which organization is rating them) species practically on their own doorstep.
Jane says
When was Disney elected as the social conscious of the world?
They need to stick to entertaining and the parks. No one is impressed
with the current turn of events.
NEN says
@Franklin Space 220 is owned by The Patina Group, not Disney.

I agree with the others here that this is all politics and woke, all of this is bull, Disney just doesn’t want to pay for the price of lobster which has skyrocketed. Trying to turn this into a third world country by taking everything away, and yes its all part of whatever agenda one wants to call it, woke or otherwise because Disney has gone way left wing woke and guests are getting fed up with it. This is not California here at Disney World, thank goodness. but they sure are trying to make it like it is.
