Currently, Disney World is riddled with construction projects.
Animal Kingdom
With a large transformation wrapping up at EPCOT, a new building being constructed at the Polynesian Village Resort, and plenty of other small side projects, there’s a lot to keep track of. One spot that has been under construction for a little while is Island Mercantile in Disney’s Animal Kingdom — but now, the construction is complete!
When we stopped by Island Mercantile on a recent visit, we discovered that the curtains blocking part of the store had been taken down and that the full space was once again open.

A new checkout counter has been built in the space, along with a queue for when the line gets long. Everything has been constructed in the same colors and style of the rest of the store.

The checkout counter that used to be in the front of Island Mercantile has been removed as well. That space is now open.

Along the walls, there are merchandise displays as usual. This is one of the largest stores in Animal Kingdom (along with Discovery Trading Co. directly across from this on Discovery Island), so there’s a large selection of merchandise.

With this section of the store back open again, shopping should be a little bit easier and less cramped in this store. We’ll keep you updated if they make any more changes!
