As Hurricane Idalia nears Florida, Disney World has made a few statements about how the parks and hotels are responding.

Current projections for Hurricane Idalia
Disney has updated change and cancelation fees for its hotels, and they’ve also announced discounts for guests who need to extend their stay if they cannot travel due to the weather. Now, Disney has announced another change they are making in response to the hurricane.
On Disney’s website, there is now an update that applies to Florida residents evacuating from Hurricane Idalia and first responders assisting in storm-related recovery efforts.
Disney is offering these people 50% off a Disney World hotel stay on the evenings of August 29th through the 31st, 2023. Evacuees should call 407-W-DISNEY for details, and first responders should call 407-828-3200 (Option 3). Disney states that this discount applies to new bookings only and is based on availability.

Disney has also noted that “Guests currently staying at our Disney Resort hotels whose travel plans have been impacted by the storm may receive a discounted rate to extend their stay through the evening of August 31, if needed, by visiting the front desk.”

As of 11AM on August 29th, the Disney World website states, “Walt Disney World Resort is currently operating under normal conditions. We are closely monitoring the path of the projected weather as we continue to prioritize the safety of our Guests and Cast Members.”
