EPCOT has just been a buzz of excitement lately.
Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana will open on October 16th, and it was announced that Moana would join the lineup of characters you can meet at EPCOT. However, that’s not the only new character meet and greet! Figment started greeting guests in the Imagination Pavilion of EPCOT on September 10th, and… we thought it would be fun to ask our readers over on Facebook what THEY thought of the new character experience.
We asked our readers for their thoughts on Figgy, and while most of the comments were very positive, there was a common theme among the more negative ones. And they made us laugh. 😂
Many of our readers are in agreement that the Figment character just looks WEIRD. Our readers feel that he is NOT the cute and cuddly dragon from our imagination. Someone even called him “nightmare fuel.”
I mean… He IS really tall… and a bit… thinner than we imagined. One reader referred to him as the “Wish version” of Figment while another called him “creepishly handsome.” Our favorite comment of all referred to him as “Figzilla.”
Commenters who loved EPCOT way back in the day said that Figment is supposed to be around three feet tall and… well, huggable. This Figment is 6 feet tall with a very slender neck and a rather small head. This made our readers feel creeped out by the character. A few folks mentioned that perhaps Disney would have been better off by bringing back the old puppet version of Figment that once graced EPCOT rather than putting a taller human in a costume.
Our readers really came through with this one and definitely made us laugh. Stay tuned for more opportunities to give us your opinion on all things Disney! Make sure to follow along for more Disney updates and news.

There used to a figment that wasn’t the puppet of dreamfinder that was there for pictures. We have old pictures with him and he didn’t have a freakishly small head. Was taller then me but at 4 11 what isn’t? Should’ve just brought that one back

Amen to above comment. They had that figment during my cp(15 years ago!) and he was very cute/cuddly

Figment was tiny, cute and cuddly. And at one time had an endearing voice. But somehow Figment has become ginormous , clumsy and if he were to fall on me he would kill me. What did imagineers thinking. The Figment character costume is so sloppily done . He has a tiny head and tree trunk legs. He actually is frightening to look at. No way could he ever fly with that body.

Our most magical experience was with the DREAMFINDER and the Figment puppet. Seeing Figment and having him snatch our hats was a delight. I think today’s Disney imagineers didn’t spend much time in the parks with the original characters. You don’t know where you are going if you don’t know where you came from.

The one long standing feeling I have on Figment is that I hate when people call him “Figgy” when did that even start. He’s been my favorite character since he debuted. And I never heard anyone call him that until a couple years ago.
I am an crotchety man and I want it to stop. 🤣

Figment is a tiny character. In the character meet and greet he is too big and cumbersome . He was true to the ride character when he was the appropriate size and was carried by Dreamfinder. I don’t know whose idea to make him monster size but they ruined a cute character that could have reacted with children when carried by a staff member since Dreamfinder is gone from the attraction.
