It might be surprising, but Florida does get pretty chilly in the wintertime!
Cooler temperatures and high humidity make it feel even colder than it is, in the sunshine state. And sometimes you have to watch out for closures when it gets too cold. Even if you’re from a colder location, you won’t want to be in these Disney World places when the temperatures inch their way down towards freezing.
This winter, we’ve seen several cooler days. 60 degrees and below may not sound like it’s freezing cold, but in Florida, those kinds of temperatures will cause a few closures. Blizzard Beach may sound perfect for Olaf in the winter, but we prefer warmer weather.
Disney and other theme parks in the area have closed their water parks several times this winter. For your safety, Disney wants to keep you out of the water and safe from hypothermia.
It’s important to keep this in mind if you plan to travel to Disney World in the winter. Even though the water is heated, sometimes, it can get too cold to have guests in the water parks in their swimming suits.Â
Any time you’re in Disney World between November and February, we suggest checking the Disney World app for potential closures of the water parks. They do occur (some years, more frequently than others) and it can be hard to predict when. So stay up to date by checking the park times in the app!
We hope this helps you on your visit to the Disney World water parks! It may seem odd, but even Florida gets too cold for swimwear in the winter.
