Who wants to play a game of I-spy? We’ll go first. We spy something NEW at the Tiana’s Bayou Adventure ride in Disney World!
At this point, Imagineers have completely transformed the area that used to be home to Splash Mountain. Now, that large tree stump at the top of the mountain is gone (or is it?), and lush flowers and greenery have taken over. As Princess Tiana once sang, we “Ain’t got time for messing around,” so come with us to see the CHANGES happening in Frontierland!
Disney is getting 🎶closer and closer every day 🎶 to opening its NEW Tiana’s Bayou Adventure attraction. As a little refresher, this new attraction takes the place of Splash Mountain but will feature all-new music, theming, and animatronics.
The ride is inspired by Disney’s Princess and the Frog movie and follows the story of Tiana “after the final kiss,” and guests will “join Princess Tiana and Louis on a musical adventure — featuring some of the powerful music from the film – as they prepare for their first-ever Mardi Gras performance.”
The attraction will feature some recognizable (and new) characters, including Tiana, Louis, and more! Disney revealed, “On Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, we’ll join Tiana and Louis on a trip to the bayou, where they meet all sorts of unexpected new friends who have a special role to play at the party.” In fact, Disney even shared a behind-the-scenes preview of the Louis animatronic!
The attraction is set to open in 2024, though Disney hasn’t shared an exact opening date quite yet. But we’re 🎶almost there🎶, as Tiana says! Take a look at the NEW addition to the exterior of the attraction. Do you see what we see?
It’s a NEW weathervane! Placed high atop the roof of part of the ride lies a new (but old-looking, because DETAIL, people) weather vane with intricate, ornate details. It’s kind of hard to see behind all the scaffolding, but trust us — it’s there!
Here’s a look at the concept art to get an idea of where this is located on the ride — it’s the golden object on top of the roof on the left.
Disney also released more details about the weather vane and the top blacksmith who created it! Darryl Reeves crafted this custom weathervane at his blacksmith shop in Louisiana’s Seventh Ward.
“I take metal and do anything I want with it,” Reeves said. “To have a free hand to design and fabricate the weathervane for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure…that’s an honor.”
He, along with his apprentice Karina, created the weathervane for the attraction. You can see more in the video below!
We can’t WAIT to ride Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Disney World! In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.

Ugh. I was soooo hoping you’d tell us that they decided to add Prince Naveen to the attraction!! Still can’t understand why one of the key characters isn’t included since this takes place AFTER the end of the movie itself. 🙁
Melanie Durham says
It’s beautiful! And I never knew something like that had a story. I just thought people had a design and a vision and just made it. That’s awesome

What a beautiful piece – thank you for sharing the story behind it!
