We’re getting “closer and closer every day” to the grand opening of Disney’s newest ride, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. In fact, dare we say, the ride is “Almost There?” 😀
We’ve learned so much about the ride, including what its story will be like, what kind of music it will have, and even what the Tiana animatronic will look like (and she looks INCREDIBLE). We’ve been following how the red stone of Splash Mountain was converted into greenery with white flowers, and we’ve watched some ride testing. But there’s one key thing we don’t hear a lot of folks talking about: the queue.
When you think of New Orleans, you can’t help but think of food. When it comes to New Orleans foods, we can’t help but think about beignets. There’s just something special about that fried dough, including a very specific smell. Well, as we previously mentioned that beignet smell is going to be pumped into the queue.
Why are we not TALKING ABOUT THIS? Okay, yes, the smell of food on the ride is going to be one of our favorite things. So by the time you’re done with the ride, you’ll probably be hungry. Fortunately, you can get some delicious Mickey beignets in nearby New Orleans Square in Disneyland. However, Disney also recently added beignets in Magic Kingdom and we’re hoping they stick around (it certainly looks like they might).
One other thing that a lot of people are NOT talking about is that a key character from The Princess and the Frog will be missing from the ride. The villainous Dr. Facilier may not appear on the ride, and that also means we won’t get to hear his song, “Friends on the Other Side.”
Now, Disney has not confirmed Dr. Facilier won’t be on the ride, but there’s been no indication he’s part of it, particularly as Tiana’s Bayou Adventure happens AFTER the events of The Princess and the Frog. We wouldn’t be mad if Disney surprised us with a Dr. Facilier appearance (as voiced by Keith David, of course), but we’re just telling you not to expect him.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure picks up where The Princess and the Frog leaves off — Tiana has a successful food business now and is throwing a massive Mardi Gras Party for the whole city of New Orleans. However, she’s missing a key ingredient and it’s up to US, her new friends, to go into the bayou to find it.
We’re excited to learn even more about the ride as we get closer to its opening this summer in Disney World and later this year in Disneyland.
