Pixar Fest may be currently happening at the Disneyland Resort, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you need to travel to California to experience Pixar up close and personal.
Without a doubt, Pixar makes some of the most popular and beloved animated films ever put to screen. We simply can’t get enough! Well, if you’ve ever wanted to step into the world of Pixar, NOW YOU CAN! A brand-new Pixar-themed exhibit is coming to a science center and it looks AMAZING!
Beginning May 25th, 2024, the Carnegie Science Center in Pittsburgh will host “The Science Behind Pixar,” a themed exhibit that will take visitors behind the scenes of the famous studio.
Highlighting the science of animation, this two-story exhibit will feature over 50 interactive activities that will test visitors’ science, technology, engineering, and math muscles.
Activities include the following:
- Peering into Jessie’s mind from Toy Story while manipulating her facial expressions using sliders
- Going to “House of Body Art” from Cars to virtually change the appearance of a car hood using a touchscreen
- Creating a stop-motion movie by moving the Pixar lamp across a curved track
- Exploring a large re-creation of a set from A Bug’s Life by controlling different cameras
- Creating a robot friend for WALL*E with magnetic body parts
- Directing a school of fish from Finding Nemo and using math to complete objectives
- Selfie opportunities with Pixar life-size recreations
The exhibit is brought to Pittsburgh’s most visited museum thanks to a collaboration between the Museum of Science, Boston and Pixar Animation Studios. It will run until January 5th, 2025 and more information (including ticket sales) can be found on the Carnegie Science Center’s official website.
