MORE change has happened in Magic Kingdom at Disney World seemingly overnight!

Paw and hoof prints!
So many new and exciting things have been announced for Disney World in the near future and we can hardly wait! While some projects already have kicked off with a running start like transforming Tortuga Tavern into Tortuga Treasures, others like Disney’s highly anticipated Villains Land might be a while before we get more insight into their extensive details. But one thing’s for sure from this latest update when Disney World has set their mind to change, you could see results FAST!
It’s pretty often we spot something new around Magic Kingdom, but not always in the way we would expect! While taking a stroll around the park recently we discovered a weird traffic jam in an area that typically isn’t known for them. The entrance to Adventureland features a bridge that you walk across signifying entering the uncharted land of forrest, adventure, and a little bit of mystery.

But beyond the bridge, we notices crowds starting to build up from what looked like construction in the main entranceway. As we got closer we saw that a section of the ground had been roped off causing a bit of a bottle-necked, crowded area and people were passing through but when we took a closer look it really grabbed our interest! We already had noticed a few days before that the ground in this area had been scored which typically suggests some upcoming work to be done, and it’s usually for some kind of repair and refurbishment.

Oooh, what’s this?!
However, what was added to the area was intriguing! The ground now gives way to reveal a section of concrete that has been replaced and looks almost like a forest floor!

Groundwork in Adventureland
We spotted notes of what look to be green moss…

Is that moss?
…tracks of several animals…

Animal tracks!
…and rugged terrain peering back at us.

It looks rough!
Its actually quite a large section of concrete just outside of the Club 33 entrance and before you make your way out to the line for Sunshine Tree Terrace if you’re passing through the land’s entrance sign. When we stopped to ask a Cast Member about the change they weren’t certain why it was added or how much more we could anticipate popping up around the land at the time. We’re left with so many questions now!
While nothing more has been confirmed about this construction change, we’re left wondering if maybe Disney World is testing pavement for the new cars land retheme as an “alpine” looking region. This area will be taking over the current Tom Sawyer Island, Rivers of America, and Liberty Square Riverboat which was announced as an upcoming project to the park during the Horizons segment at this year’s D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event weekend.

This construction is just the latest to join what’s already in progress further into the land by Pirates of the Caribbean at the former Plaza Del Sol Caribe and former Pirates League areas as Disney’s Imagineers work to transform it into the recently announced family-friendly Pirates of the Caribbean inspired lounge. This new space is expected to open sometime in 2025.

An all-new lounge themed to Pirates of the Caribbean will open at Magic Kingdom in 2025.
