We can’t believe we’re even saying this, but the TSA is pleading with people to please “stop hiding animals in weird places on your body” after a woman was caught trying to smuggle two turtles in her bra.
In a social media post, TSA shared that a woman attempted to “take a pair of twin snappers” with her through airport security, and sadly, one of the turtles did not survive.
The Transportation and Security Administration is once again requesting that people stop attempting to smuggle animals through airport security. According to the post, a Florida woman was attempting to go through airport security at Miami International Airport when she was stopped for having two snapping turtles hidden in her bra.
One of the turtles was wrapped in what appeared to be medical tape, while the other looked like it was wrapped in plastic cling wrap. TSA reported that one of the turtles did not survive. The surviving turtle was turned over to the Florida Department of Fish and Wildlife.
A TSA spokesperson told People that the incident happened in April. After Advanced Imaging Technology alerted agents to the woman’s chest, “the passenger removed two live turtles from the alarming area.”
As wild as it might seem, this isn’t the first time something like this has happened.
Back in March, a man was caught trying to smuggle a turtle through security at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey. So, it’s clear why the TSA feels the need to plead with people to please not do this!
We’ll be on the lookout for additional travel news and updates you might need to know about. And, please, don’t try to smuggle any animals in weird places on your body through the airport. Or like, ever. That’s probably for the best.
