While you might think of Disney World for all the best theme park snacks, you might be sleeping on Universal Orlando. We found two snacks that we knew we had to try.
We headed to Thunder Falls Terrace, right by the Jurassic Park River Adventure, to try some snacks. This Jurassic Park-themed restaurant offers plenty of seating and air conditioning, and now has two more snacks that are causing a roar.
We started with the InGen Empanada Dog Combo for $17.49. This is a spiced beef empanada and Nathan’s Famous hot dog, served with tomato, red onion, aji amarillo, and cilantro garlic sauce, accompanied by fries.
Bam! This hot dog had a bit of spicy kick that we really enjoyed. The empanada beef and the beef hot dog seemed to be competing for who had the better meat (spoiler: we loved them both). The hot dog was beefy, juicy, and had a lot of flavor. We also loved the empanada, with all the sauces and how well it was cooked.
One major issue we faced was keeping everything together. With all of the items, the beef leans to one side, so that side becomes a bit weaker and makes it harder to hold. While we’re not surprised that a hot dog with so many toppings can be messy, it’s always a bit disappointing when we have to eat it with a fork.
We enjoyed the flavor, and for the cost, thought it was a good deal, especially with a drink and fries. It’s definitely for the savory fans out there who don’t mind getting a little messy for good food.
Then we had the Pomegranate Dole Whip for $6.99. This is a frozen Dole Whip topped with pomegranate seeds.
We’re Dole Whip experts, and Disney World is missing out on having a pomegranate flavor. We’ve seen a similar flavor when we stopped at Nassau, Bahamas, on Disney Cruise Line, and we’ve been hooked ever since. It was so good! The fresh pomegranate on top popped in your mouth and brought in a burst of flavor, and while we enjoy that type of texture, be aware that not everyone will enjoy that.
When we got a spoonful, it felt like we were biting right into a fresh pomengrante but with the texture of sorbet. Don’t be surprised if you see us come back here for more! This is a flavor we haven’t seen at Disney World, but after this, we think they should add it to their menus!
We’ll be thinking about these treats for a while, but in the meantime, be sure to follow DFB for more food reviews to plan your next vacation.
