Big news out of the Disney Cruise Line world! We’ve been looking forward to the maiden voyage of the Disney Adventure, Disney’s newest cruise ship, on March 10th for months now, and it’s finally almost here.

This ship is settling sail from Singapore and will cruise through Southeast Asia on 3 and 4 night voyages. The ship has seven themed areas featuring Disney, Pixar, and Marvel stories. With such a heavy emphasis on Marvel, we weren’t surprised that Disney just announced who the godparent of this new ship is — none other than Robert Downey Jr.!

In case you’re unfamiliar, each Disney Cruise Line ship gets a godparent, someone who will bring good luck and great voyages to the ship and its passengers for years to come! The Disney Treasure’s godparent is The Walt Disney Company cast, crew, Imagineers, and employees around the world, and Susan Egan was named the godparent of the Disney Destiny in 2025.

When announcing Robert Downey Jr. as the godparent of this new ship, Josh D’Amaro is quoted as saying, “Our new ship continues Disney Cruise Line’s tradition of bringing great stories to life at sea, and we are honored that Robert Downey Jr., who has guided audiences through unforgettable Marvel stories, is the official godparent for the Disney Adventure.”

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is the highest-grossing film franchise of all time, and Robert Downey Jr.’s portrayal of Tony Stark/Iron Man was a large part of that. When speaking about the decision, he stated, “It’s impossible to describe the majesty of the Adventure, and to be its godparent is an honor. As the largest ship in the Disney fleet, a gargantuan blessing must be bestowed … I’ll do my darndest.”

The seven themed areas of the new cruise ship include Disney Imagination Garden, Disney Discovery Reef, Wayfinder Bay, Town Square, Marvel Landing, and Toy Story Place. Additionally, there will be rotational dining on board, character meet and greets, Broadway-style shows, themed staterooms, and so much more that we know and love about cruising with Disney.
