Disney’s Hollywood Studios is no stranger to change — the former Disney-MGM Studios has transformed almost completely since its 1989 opening day, including having its very name changed — and 2026 is no different.
The park is currently in the midst of several massive construction projects, including the March 2nd permanent closure of the Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, which is about to be substantially rethemed, with The Muppets replacing “The Bad Boys of Boston.” Now, that’s being reflected on the park’s map!
Ever since Herb Ryman drew the first preliminary presentation map of Disneyland 70+ years ago, Disney theme park maps have been a favorite souvenir of guests, previewed new park additions, and provided a way around the parks in paper and electronic forms to this day!
Hollywood Studios’ map has been updated to show the Rock ’n’ Coaster closed, along with a teaser for the Muppet attraction.
Note that the redeveloped Animation Courtyard — featuring the newly reimagined Magic of Disney Animation — is also teased on the map. It’s scheduled to open later this year.
The newest paper map doesn’t yet preview Monsters, Inc. land coming to the park, instead showing the area — still identified as Grand Avenue — as simply full of trees and greenery.
Of course, in the 21st century, Disney’s maps aren’t only paper. There’s also a full map available on the Walt Disney World My Disney Experience App, where the Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster is shuttered with no wait times.
Upon closer inspection, it’s interesting to note that the ride’s original name is still being used on the app for now.
In addition to the map, the ride is listed as closed…
… throughout the app.
Hollywood Studios is changing, and the park’s map is evolving right along with it! Stay tuned to DFB for more on the park’s evolution.
