CinemaCon has been one of the biggest entertainment conventions of the year for decades, and studios often use the event as a showcase of their upcoming slate of films for the upcoming year and beyond.
CinemaCon 2026 was held from April 13th through the 16th, and as usual, Disney brought a slew of exclusive footage and celebrity appearances to the convention to promote the latest projects from Disney Studios, Marvel, Pixar, LucasFilm, and more!
However, before getting into specific films, Disney also used CinemaCon to announce Infinity Vision, a “new certification” for premium large format theaters designed to help audiences find the “biggest, brightest, and most immersive cinematic experiences, including theaters with the with the “largest screens for maximum scale, laser projection for superior brightness and clarity, and premium audio formats for fully immersive sound.”
Live Action
Avengers Doomsday
Disney went BIG to promote the Marvel Cinematic Universe epic, out December 18th. Kevin Feige, the Russo Brothers, Chris Evans, and Robert Downey Jr. himself were all on hand to discuss Victor Von Doom’s entry into the MCU, and show off the first extended trailer for the film, which featured a litany of characters from across the Marvel Cinematic Universe including the X-Men, Fantastic Four, Thunderbolts/New Avengers, Thor, Shang-Chi, Namor, Doom himself, and the returning Steve Rogers.
The Mandalorian and Grogu
Disney also used the CinemaCon opportunity to continue the promotion push for the latest Star Wars film, The Mandalorian and Grogu, out May 22nd. Director Jon Favreau appeared onstage, discussed transitioning the popular Disney+ series to the big screen, calling it a “very different experience from the series,” before introducing the final Mandalorian and Grogu trailer (which was then posted online). However, that wasn’t all, as the crowd was treated to the film’s opening sequence in full!
Moana
Dwayne Johnson was on hand to discuss the Moana live-action adaptation, which is set to debut in theaters on July 10th. In between a sizzle reel of footage from the film, Johnson discussed the cultural importance of Moana and the representation of Pacific Islanders.
