In Magic Kingdom, one of the most popular rides is still Seven Dwarfs Mine Train with wait times often over 90 minutes.

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is a steel roller coaster, in a class that we would describe as a “family coaster.” The thrills here are milder than they might be on a traditional coaster. If you are planning a Disney World vacation and are interested in riding this attraction, you might be wondering if it is scary, and we’re here to break it down for you.
You need to be 38 inches tall to ride the Mine Train. With that height requirement, many children can begin to ride this ride when they are 3 or 4 years old. So, you might be wondering if this ride has big drops and if it is scary.
The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train features — you guessed it — the characters from Disney’s first animated movie, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The ride’s theme centers around the dwarfs’ work in a diamond mine. The ride passes through a dark tunnel, so those who are afraid of the dark may want to take that into consideration. However, this part of the ride is where you see the Dwarfs working in the mine and singing Heigh-ho, Heigh-ho, so the scenes inside the dark tunnel are happy ones.

As for drops on this roller coaster, the tallest hill is 39 feet. Because of the way the coaster is constructed, you go into the drop on a curve, so it’s not necessarily the stomach-churning thrill you might get on a larger roller coaster. This coaster reaches a top speed of 34 miles per hour, and much of the ride moves more slowly than that.

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
This Mine Train’s steel track provides a smooth ride, and we have not had very many people tell us they experienced any motion sickness. Even though the coaster reaches about 3 1/2 stories at its highest point and goes through a dark tunnel, we do not think it will be considered scary by very many people, including small children.

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
One thing that can be scary at Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is the wait time! We recommend that you rope drop this attraction, wait to ride until later in the evening when Magic Kingdom crowds die out (or while others are waiting for a spot to watch fireworks), or consider the purchase of a Single Pass Lightning Lane to skip the line.
