NEWS: Six Flags Announces Record-Breaking Coaster Opening in 2027!

It’s a great time to be a theme park fan in Texas! Universal is currently working away at the brand new Universal Kids Resort, which is opening on July 1st in Frisco, Texas.

Six Flags is also getting in on the fun with a brand new coaster for families! If you’re looking for excitement and thrill, we have all of the details here.

Six Flags Fiesta Texas is adding some exciting fun to 2027, thanks to a brand new coaster called Werewolf Gorge! This isn’t just any regular old coaster, though. This will be the longest family launch coaster in the world! This family coaster will have 32 “airtime moments,” and it will reach speeds up to 45 mph. There will be 4 different launches during the ride, and it will feature a 4,120-foot-long track.

To put it into perspective, the Slinky Dog Dash track is 2,789 feet long in Hollywood Studios. So this coaster will be LONG! The story of the ride is that in the late 19th century, the rail and mining industries were booming, leading the Silver Strike Mining Company to big success. Over the years, some strange things started happening at the mine, including rumors of wolf sightings, miners gone missing, and eerie howls echoing through the tunnels.

Now, the mine is abandoned, but visitors can still tour the haunted site. Jasper Bunyan is your tour guide who will lead you along the way. You can check out the exhibits dedicated to cryptids and critters before you get into one of the “old, cobbled-together vehicles” for your tour. You can see the full ride preview here!

This coaster will have a height requirement of 39”. The ride will open sometime in 2027, but Six Flags hasn’t confirmed an official date just yet. Recently, our team got to check out Dollywood again, and this coaster feels pretty familiar. If you’ve been, this seems like a slightly longer version of Big Bear Mountain. This might be because both coasters were manufactured by Vekoma, so you can probably expect a pretty similar experience!
