It’s no secret that Disney World offers a large selection of culinary options, with something for every type of palate. However, not every one of these foods is created equal as far as Cast Members are concerned.
Thanks to overexposure to certain foods, environments, and guest behavior, the former Cast Members on our team say they avoid these foods any time they’re hungry at the “Most Magical Place on Earth.”
All-Star Pizza
So, our first story out of the gate has nothing to do with the pizzas served at the All-Star Resorts and everything to do with an incident witnessed by one of our team members.
While working as a Cast Member, they saw a group of middle school-aged guests throw a pizza down — toppings first — and then proceed to pick it up and eat it. Suffice to say, they haven’t eaten a pizza since.
Casey’s Corner Hot Dogs
For many Magic Kingdom guests, a hot dog from Casey’s Corner is the epitome of an All-American Disney World meal. However, for many Cast Members — including on our team — who’ve worked in the eatery and smelled thousands of hot dogs at the height of the Florida summer, they’re more the epitome of a “must-skip” Disney Food.
If this all feels overwhelming, we understand. We’ve been there – picking restaurants for Disney World can feel like a full-time job. Between the reviews, menus, and reservation strategies, it’s a lot to sort through. Our Guide to Disney World Dining pulls it all together so you can stop stressing and focus on the fun without feeling like you’re missing a thing!
Buffets
Walt Disney World features several buffets, including Chef Mickey’s. However, for many Cast Members who’ve seen thousands upon thousands of hands — especially those of little kids — all over the buffet’s offerings, it’s table service or nothing as far as sit-down restaurants go.
Turkey Legs
Disney World’s famous Turkey Legs are not, as the internet would have you believe, made of emu meat. They are indeed turkey. However, once you’ve served it and felt its grease drip down your forearms, you can kill your appetite for ever chowing down on one again.
Mickey Pretzels
Say it ain’t so! The iconic Mickey Pretzels you know and love come frozen and are then sprayed with water, salted, and warmed. Truth be told, they’re still delicious, but losing the illusion of freshness can feel like a bummer.
When the former Cast Members on our team visit Walt Disney World, they skip over these food options every time. Stay tuned to DFB for more tips from our team.

There is no evidence the turkey legs are held together by edible glue. That’s a false internet rumor which has been debunked. Tread carefully here!
You don’t see many of them any more, but I was never wild about toppings bars. Even if the other food looked fresh and wholesome, the toppings bars (especially for burgers) just looked unsafe to me. Unless I just saw the Cast Members put out a fresh tray or container of something, I would pass it up. I also try to get servings from farther back on the buffets, where little hands are less likely to reach. Although, I’ve had less experience with kids’ hands going unwanted into the buffet, and more experience with kids wiping faces and hands on my pant leg, because they thought I was their adult (or maybe because that’s just how they rolled), or on the jacket hanging on my chair, etc. Some buffets are simply must-do for us (like Tusker House and Crystal Palace), but we do generally just prefer regular table service places.
