Disney has dropped a BUNCH of movie news!

We attended D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in 2026, and we got a lot of big news. During one session, we learned all about the upcoming films being released by Disney and its studios…including Coco 2!
It was announced during a shareholder meeting a while back that Disney and Pixar are producing a Coco 2, which will be a sequel to the hit 2017 film Coco. We’ve been eager for updates about this movie since, and during D23’s Entertainment Showcase, we finally got the details on the movie’s plot!

This film will take place during Miguel’s teenage years, and this time, he will have to team up with Ernesto de la Cruz. Benjamin Bratt will be reprising his role as Ernesto, and he took to the stage at the panel, saying, “Can’t wait to bring my character back to life…or rather, back to death.”

Miguel will end up back in the land of the dead. Miguel will be forced to team up with Ernesto, but his true compass remains his family. The film will release in 2029, so we can’t wait to learn more in the coming years.
D23 Entertainment Showcase
This movie has been an incredibly popular IP for Pixar and Disney. Less than 10 years later, there are Coco-themed entertainment options in the parks, a Coco restaurant on Disney Cruise Line, and a Coco ride in the works for Disney California Adventure. The film has resonated with many!

Not super excited for the character design nor the single line regarding the story. But the first Coco was an incredible movie, I only wish I would have watched it in a theater as the visuals were truly impressive. Please Disney add some bioluminescence animatronic alebrije to the Coco ride.
