Two New Celebrities Announced for Disney's 'Hexed'

We’re rolling, people — quiet on set! In this scene, a group of Disney’s biggest fans sits in quiet anticipation as a fancy executive walks on stage. Then, they bring out celebrities for the next big Disney movie, and the audience erupts in cheers. Aaaand, cut! That’s a wrap. But guess what? That little story we directed for you is actually pretty realistic: In fact, it just happened!

Disney has so many great movies coming out in 2026, but we’re super excited for Hexed. The animated coming-of-age fantasy film stars Hailee Steinfeld, but Disney hasn’t announced too many details. But that just changed, because Disney released some casting updates at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Experience!

Hexed is an all-new original film that follows a teenage Billie and her mom who discover her weirdness is actually hidden magical powers, transporting them from suburbia into Hexe, a world where magic can run free. Hailee Steinfeld of Pitch Perfect and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse stars as Billie Doe, with Rashida Jones (The Office, Parks and Recreation) as Alice Doe, Billie’s cautious mother. The supporting cast includes Tracey Ullman as Ms. Quill, an enchanted feather quill pen, and Stephen Fry as Elias Quire, a magical journal.

But now, we know that Walter Goggins and Jodie Foster are in the cast as well! Jodie Foster will be playing the witch queen, while Walter Goggins plays the green cat pictured below.

A closer look at our main characters

The movie is made by the same teams behind Zootopia, Moana 2, and Encanto, so we’re in for a real treat. It’s directed by Fawn Veerasunthorn behind Wish, Jason Hand of Moana 2, and Josie Trinidad, writer and director of the series Zootopia+. The film is produced by Roy Conli of Tangled, Big Hero 6, Treasure Planet, Strange World, and Olaf’s Frozen Adventure.
