It has just been announced that the Play Disney Parks app is retiring next month.
Scott Gustin shared on X that Disney is planning to retire this app starting on September 16th. In case you don’t know, the Play Disney Parks app powers many interactive games and experiences around both Disneyland and Disney World.

This app has lots of trivia and games to play in line for attractions. However, it was best known for several interactive games, including Star Wars: Datapad, Batuu Bounty Hunters, and DuckTales World Showcase Adventure. These games allowed you to explore the parks and find actual hidden details that could interact with the app on your phone as you played the games.

Batuu Bounty Hunters will still be available even after the app is gone through MagicBand+ and the existing screens throughout the land, but Star Wars: Datapad will be gone with the app. And Disney has not yet shared whether DuckTales World Showcase Adventure will continue after the app is retired. So if you want to take advantage of the last few weeks of these games and experiences around the parks, make sure to do so soon because as of September 16th, the app will not be available to download and existing users will not be able to log in.

The datapad and Bounty Hunters are the really interactive parts of Bathuu experience. We hope it reincarnates elsewhere.
That makes me really sad because there were some really fun interactive games in Animal Kingdom.
This is such a shame, my kid loves the ducktales adventure!
I love how the app turns hidden park details into part of the game.
We liked the geography game in the Soarin queue almost more than the ride itself. I don’t understand why Disney doesn’t do more in line games. The best part of test track was the car design. They took that away but it could have easily been made part of an app.
Honestly my favorite games was the one for the Peter Pan queue. It was a series of questions designed for family discussion. My husband of 25 years and I learned new things about each other. It was the most poignant reminder that Disney really is about spending time being in the moment with your family. We also really loved the Space Mountain game where you outfit a racing rocket and get to see it in action on the ceiling of the loading platform. One of the most delightful Imagineering surprises ever!
