It’s time once again to celebrate a GRAND tradition… the Fifth Annual Easter Egg Display at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort!
And it’s become something of a tradition for us here at the DFB to share them with you in case your spring break plans don’t include a visit to Disney World this year. (If they DO, you’ll want to note that the Eggs are on display through April 4th.)
The Grand Floridian Bakery Team has designed these beautiful, edible Easter ornaments for twenty years, though up until five years ago they were only displayed in the Resort’s restaurants. These days each chocolate egg creation is available for everyone to see, spaced throughout various areas of the Grand Floridian lobby.
As always, several of the eggs pay homage to many Disney characters we know and love.
But we can’t forget to say hello to some newer friends who made the cut this year, too ;).
Somebody even gave Mickey and Minnie a little Steampunk makeover!
A few of the Eggs celebrate the colors of the season in bloom.
While a couple simply celebrate the beauty of CHOCOLATE!
Because the pastry chefs are given creative freedom over the design of the eggs (it takes over three weeks to create one), you’ll always spot some truly unexpected gems.
The texture on this one is pretty amazing…
Though we’re sharing the new 2016 Easter Eggs in this post, several of the eggs from the 2014 Display and the 2015 Display can be seen again this year. That’s because some of the eggs are able to be preserved. One of our favorites that we are happy to see again is the Peter Pan egg with a beautifully detailed map of Neverland.
Another returning egg to look for is the Sleeping Beauty Egg, which is encased in glass because it has been on display in front of the Garden View Lounge throughout the year (so keep an eye out at the Grand Floridian to see if you can catch one of the eggs even if you miss the Easter festivities!).
And finally, we’re back to where we started — this is the same Grand Floridian Wedding Easter Egg we showed at the beginning of this post.
A Cast Member shared with us that the design is actually a nod to the framed linen that is hanging on the wall directly in front of the egg.
So just as in the rest of Disney World, it’s all in the detail with these beautiful creations. Many thanks to the Bakery Team at Disney’s Grand Floridian for sharing the Grand Floridian Easter Eggs again this year!
