News: Changes to The Chew’s Taping Schedule in Epcot Due to Hurricane Matthew

If you’ve been following all the news and updates for the 2016 Epcot Food and Wine Festival, then you’re likely well aware that ABC’s daytime cooking show, The Chew, is taping shows at Epcot during the Festival for the second year in a row. Due to Hurricane Matthew, however, the original taping schedule has been altered.

Tapings were originally scheduled for two shows on Wednesday, October 5th, two on Thursday, October 6th, and one on Friday, October 7th for a total of five shows set to air next week. But according to the Orlando Sentinel, tapings have been moved up to avoid the arrival of storms anticipated for later this week.

Two shows were instead taped yesterday, and this afternoon, a third show will be added at 5:15 pm. (The original taping times for today, 9:40 am and 1:40 pm, have and are moving forward as scheduled). The Thursday and Friday tapings have been cancelled.

Guests who were ticket holders for the original tapings have been notified via email. Yesterday’s tapings were moved to a first-come, first-served basis, so it is likely that the same scenario will take place during this afternoon’s additional 5:15 pm show.

Remembering Writer’s Stop in Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Well, we had hoped against hope that it wouldn’t happen… but it has.

Last week, we said goodbye to the Writer’s Stop in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

In order to make way for the construction of the future Star Wars and Toy Story Lands, the closure of the Streets of America section of the park began in April, resulting in the removal of several eateries in the area like Studio Catering Co., High Octane Refreshments, and Herbie’s Drive-In. The beloved little Writer’s Stop, however, escaped the first round of closures.

It wasn’t without a change of its own, though. In April, Writer’s Stop began operating as a de facto lounge for guests awaiting their Advance Dining Reservation for the neighboring Sci-Fi Dine-In Restaurant instead of as the pastry, coffee, and book store it was best known as over the years.

Through the changes, the Writer’s Stop was a small corner of peaceful respite during a very busy park day. (Since the Streets of America section of the park was an assemblage of building false fronts and film sets, many guests would pass right on by Writer’s Stop, assuming it was more of the same.) News: Haunted Mansion Hitchhiking Ghosts Tiki Mug in Disney World and Disneyland

We had an absolute blast at the Behind the Scenes at Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto event at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort this week!

And are looking forward to sharing all the details about this new Special Event for the 2016 Epcot Food and Wine Festival in a review here soon.

But there was one thing from the event we simply couldn’t wait to share. We got a glimpse of the Haunted Mansion Hitchhiking Ghosts Tiki Mug that’s on the way to Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto!

In case you missed the hype, the Haunted Mansion Hitchhiking Ghosts Tiki Mug has already come to — and gone from — Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar in Disneyland. The mug sold out completely on its very first day (to the tune of two-hour wait times for Disneyland guests). And you can see why… it’s Completely. Freakin’. Incredible.

According to sources, it will be restocked in Disneyland’s Trader Sam’s, but not until “closer to Halloween.” [Read more…]

The Joffrey’s kiosks at Hollywood Studios have some of the best theming, like this one located outside of the Tower of Terror.

Did you know that Royal Anandapur Tea Company in Animal Kingdom is a Joffrey’s spot?

News: Sanaa Serving Breakfast at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge

There’s a new breakfast stop in Disney World!

And it will be an especially welcome option for guests staying at Kidani Village in Animal Kingdom Lodge (the Resort’s home to Disney Vacation Club Villas). Sanaa, which is located in Kidani Village, has been one of our favorite lunch and dinner locations ever since it opened in 2009 due to its lovely atmosphere and unique dishes.

And now it’s a place where you can begin your Disney day as well, since Sanaa is the home of this new breakfast option each morning from 7:00 to 10:00 am.

Things operate a bit differently for breakfast at Sanaa. Sanaa is a Table Service restaurant for Lunch and Dinner; however, breakfast instead features a Counter Service and grab-and-go set-up (similar to The Mara in Animal Kingdom’s Jambo House and typical Counter Service options in Resorts around Disney World).

But food choices carry a bit of their own flair, with the Counter Service options including dishes like the Savanna Platter (two farm fresh eggs any style, tomato chutney, bacon, and Tanzanian Hash Browns), the Boere Breakfast (like the Savanna Platter but with the addition of Boerewors Sausage), a Safari Waffle topped with Seasonal Berries and Chai Whipped Cream (!!), and Fruit Sosatie with quinoa and dried fruit salad.
