While headed to Dinoland from Asia in Disney’s Animal Kingdom last week, I saw this drink cart (technically called “AK Hot Dog 2 Cart” on my receipt) next to the bridge between Expedition Everest and Finding Nemo: The Musical.
In addition to beer and a fun cheese and cracker plate, they were serving Pomegranate Martinis! I had to give that a try…
When I asked, I was told that this cart is temporary. It’s there to cater to the Spring Break crowds and may be out again during the Summer.
But I loved the decor of the cart, even though it will only be around for a short time. Who else paints “Lovely Beer” on the side of a cart besides the Imagineers at Animal Kingdom?! 😉
The menu was great as well. While they were out of margaritas when I was there, I liked the options for quick, grab-and-go, relatively healthy snacks: cheese and crackers, sliced apples, and Craisins trail mix.
I hope to find these little cheese and cracker packs in more places in Disney parks. With a good combo of protein and carbs, and not a lot of sugar, I think it’s the perfect mix to keep you going on a long Disney day.
Of course, I was interested in the remaining “mixed” drink on the menu — the Pomegranate Martini. Don’t be fooled — you’re not getting a martini glass here in the Animal Kingdom. And you’re not even really getting a “mixed” drink. I was surprised to see the martini come straight out of this bottle, pre-mixed.
That said, it was a relatively strong drink for what it was — nobody’s going to say that it didn’t have a kick! And it tasted great, so I wasn’t complaining!
Plus, the color is just gorgeous, isn’t it?? I had lots of folks wondering where I’d gotten the beautiful drink as I walked through Animal Kingdom.
Just wanted to give you a little heads up about the fun temporary options in the Animal Kingdom if you’re headed that way anytime soon! To be honest, if a drink is what you crave, always head to the Dawa Bar, the Margarita kiosk, or the Yak and Yeti Lounge before hitting up the temp drink carts, but I thought this was a fun find anyway! Plus I wanted to show off my cool Everest + Martini photo at the top of this post — let’s be honest, I’m not the most creative person in the world, so when I take a rad photo I wanna show it to you! ;-D
Have you tried this Martini or another drink special? Let us know what sips we should try on our next visit!

It’s a shame it’s only seasonal! I would love to try this in November especially since it’s at DAK! I love a good margarita and to have a good margarita at a great Disney park would be that much better!
AJ says
Eric — If you’re looking for a good Margarita, head over to the Dawa Bar or the new frozen Margarita kiosk between Asia and Africa!! No worries; they have your margarita needs covered in the Animal Kingdom! 🙂
Rose says
Unfortunately, I won’t be able to visit while this is up and running. But the new frozen margarita stand sounds great!
P.S. The pic of the drink and Everest…………..Very impressive!
Justin says
We cast members call it Yeti Bar.
AJ says
Rose — Ha ha! Why thank you! 😉
Justin — The Yeti Bar! Perfect!!
Lily says
That other kiosk between Africa and Asia with frozen drinks is called Upcountry Drinks. 🙂

On the plus side, this looks like something you could find in your local liquor store. So if you like it when you get home, it’s easy to recreate…
Shayne says
(a) The drink looks awesome.
(b) The photo is awesome.
(c) I agree with you on the cheese and cracker packs. They look like the perfect snack for a long day at the parks!!
Elizabeth says
I can confirm that yes, I just googled that concoction and yes, you can buy it by the bottle. Hmmmm…may have to give it a try.
AJ says
Lily — Yes, indeed! Thank you! I knew it was on my receipt, but didn’t head over to check. They have the greatest CMs there!
Kelly — Yes, ma’am!! Sadly, there’s no Expedition Everest at my local liquor store. Imagine the fun!
Shayne — (a) Agreed. (b) Thank you! (c) Srsly. I can see myself grabbing a few to take back to the room!
Elizabeth — Ha ha! Great bit of sleuthing!! Thanks!
Lori says
Darn, I would have wanted to try that new drink, but the Dawa Bar is a decent “consolation prize”. 😉 As for the cheese platter, I was able to find that at the fruit and veggie cart in Harambe. I brought it back to the Dawa Bar to enjoy with a drink.

Your phenomenal photographic skills sold me on that cool, colorful concoction! How’s that for a lot of alliteration? Paired with that cheese and cracker combo (Babybel-yum), that martini would make for a perfect relaxing and recharging break.
