There’s been a lot of talk recently about Disneyland’s unique and incredible Trader Sam’s Tiki Bar possibly replicating itself in Disney World’s upcoming Disney Springs (which I think would be totally rad).
And since many Trader Sam’s reviews put a huge focus on drinks — understandably (you can see tons of Trader Sam’s drinks here!) — I thought it would be fun this time to take a quick look at two of my favorite FOOD items at the Disneyland hot spot.
Atmosphere
Trader Sam’s is small, but packed with action. Intriguing decor reveals sight gags and hidden secrets everywhere!
Scour the walls for correspondence from the Jungle Cruise’s own Trader Sam, and check out unique items he’s brought back from his travels.
Don’t forget to read the postcards!
Once you finally get a table and get settled in (this can take a while if you’re there on a busy evening…we suggest going for lunch), it’s time to take a peek at the menu and get started!
Ready to dive in?!
Trader Sam’s Panko-Crusted Chinese Long Beans
The Chinese Long Beans have become a serious guest favorite at Trader Sam’s! You can get them as part of the PuPu Platter, or grab a whole plate of them!
These are as addictive as french fries, but healthier for you! (Aren’t they?! Green veggies, right?) Combine them with that spicy Sriracha aioli and you’ve got a gourmet treat disguised as bar food.
Hot, crunchy, and delicious, these are a perfect pre-dinner snack or late-night tide-me-over!
Trader Sam’s Angus 1/3 Lb Hawaiian Cheeseburger
Another favorite is the Hawaiian Cheeseburger. Topped with melty cheese, crisp bacon, and pineapple, this savory-sweet meal is anything but ordinary.
I was bowled over by the amount of cheese on top of this one. Just don’t try to get away with calling this a snack or an appetizer. It’s hearty!
Overall
I’m biased. I’ll admit it. I love Trader Sam’s and will go there no matter what’s on the menu. The place is too much fun, and once you add in all of the secret happenings depending on what drink you order (here’s a tip: the Uh Oa is a blast!), it turns into a full-blown entertainment location.
So I’m happy to say that the food here is quite good. And even if you’re headed to Trader Sam’s for a mid-day lunch — you’re definitely still going to enjoy yourself!

@AJ It’s funny because I get excited to go here after the park. Nothing better than parking the strollers and having a bite to eat and some drinks as the kids are sleeping. The fireplace is the best, too.
