IT’S OFFICIAL!!!
After months of waiting, watching, and hoping, there is now confirmation from Disney that a Jungle Cruise-themed restaurant is indeed on its way to Disney World! The Jungle Navigation Co., Ltd. Skipper Canteen is coming to Magic Kingdom’s Adventureland!
Here’s what we know: offering “World Famous Jungle Cuisine,” the Skipper Canteen will feature several different dining rooms such as a Crew Mess Hall, and even a “once-hidden secret meeting room” of the Society of Explorers and Adventurers.
And if that Society rings a bell, that’s because it’s the very same group that — as the story goes — once frequented Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar (opening in Downtown Disney this fall).
Best of all, Jungle Cruise Skippers will staff the restaurant! Anyone who loves, loves, LOVES the Jungle Cruise knows how the Skippers bring the attraction to life, and we imagine this will be no less the case at the Canteen!
It has been rumored that the service style of the restaurant may function similar to Be Our Guest Restaurant, offering a Counter Service lunch by day and Table Service dinner in the evenings.
Look for the Skipper Canteen to open its doors at the former site of the Adventureland Veranda restaurant (right next to the new location of Sunshine Tree Terrace) later this year!
Are YOU excited to visit the Skipper Canteen when it opens? Please let us know with a comment!

This is great, but my daughter will miss the Faeries. And I can’t be the only one that hopes it brings back the feeling/atmosphere of The Adventurers Club.
Susan Lane says
So excited. An additional restaurant is definitely needed. Can’t wait to try it out.
Steve says
Looking forward to seeing the new restaurant. However, the themed atmosphere of the Adventureland Veranda will be tough to top. It was one of the best immersion experiences of Magic Kingdom Classic.
Essie says
This so exciting!!!! I, too, enjoyed the old Adventureland Veranda, especially when you had a table overhanging the water, but I LOVE the idea of this new themed spot. It’s so good to see something that represents a beloved old classic from the Golden Era of Disney. My next trip is not yet planned, but along with totally new experiences like Pandora, I will be so looking forward to enjoying this new but ‘old Classic’ restaurant. I can’t wait!!!!
PS: I love the new idea of having lunch as QS and dinner as TS in the same eatery; this plan gives guests so much flexibility and so many, more options. Good work, Disney.

This is so exciting!!! Jungle Cruise is one of my favorite rides! I was hoping it would be themed well (sort of like Blue Bayou in DL) and sort of overlook the ride, but it doesn’t sound like it. Still, I hope the waitstaff has the same personality as those operating the ride! LOVE it!

Jungle Cruise is in my opinion the best Disney ride of all and I expect the restaurant to be the same.
