Disneyland guests and annual passholders
were treated to a not-so-pleasant surprise this morning. Whether showing up at the park to buy a one day ticket or annual pass, everyone was greeted with a major price increase — including on the MaxPass service and daily parking as well.
That’s right, if you’re planning a trip to Disneyland you’ll need to save more than a few more pennies to purchase your park tickets or annual passes with this price increase. Some prices went up as much as 25% overnight.
This increase comes on the heels of some hints from both Bob Iger (Disney’s CEO) and Disney as to the opening date of and more details about Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland.

Looks like my days of having a Premier pass are over. With the dramatic price increase of signature plus vs signature I’d need three trips a year to justify my WDW AP on top of Disneyland. Definitely going down to Signature and adding AP maxpass, if they still do that, simply because of parking costs. I won’t mind the disneyland park blockout dates because I’m sure those are days I definitely don’t want to be trying to get into Galaxy’s Edge anyway. Do you have any info on the AP maxpass addon currently?

I suppose that this increase will apply to the Disney World parks also?
Brian Anderson says
Yes, these price increases make it impossible for me to do the park with family that come to southern California for vacation.
I’m retired and fixed income, so I don’t have any plans to do the parks when the kids come home to visit.

My days are over way to expensive anymore ….we have had pass 10 years strait now and we have to say good by…

Disney has gone from the Happiest Place on Earth to the Happiest MOST EXPENSIVE place on earth.
Walt would be pissed.
I think it’s time to go to Universal.
Sid says
Wow, after 8 yrs of annual passes for our family (6 adults) no more passes for us! If their trying to keep away crowds, this will work!

As an AP holder for many years, I will continue to be one because it is my happy place and the AP perks. Disneyland has been getting very crowded so the additional AP blackout days and price increases was probably in response to the complaints from non-AP holders. One of my neighbors had a horrible experience when she brought her family to Disneyland during a family reunion. The long lines for food and rides negated the Disney experience she hoped to convey.

Cynthia, since the date-based pricing and increases late last year, we would not anticipate anything imminent at WDW, but there’s really no way to know. They’re nothing if not unpredictable.

Matthew, nothing new on Maxpass, but if we see anything we’ll update!

I was a Premium AP since 1989 while the last Premium price was just under $900 a year. The year it was raised to almost $500+ more in price, I couldn’t justify keeping it, as at that time I was unemployed. Its sad – I used to EVERY week – sometimes just for a few hours – sometimes longer. Had breakfast at Carnation Café on Maine Street each visit. The cast members became my friends and I still stay in touch with them through Facebook – but I REALLY REALLY miss going to the parks to see them and spend some quality time. Since I have been gone, Bobby is gone, Randy left and Oscar retired. I will forever miss them if I ever return…sigh…
