It’s a Jolly Holiday when Disneyland’s classic bakery and cafe unveils new treats that are ready-made for spring. And you know we had to get in there for a bite (or two… or four).
The Strawberry Hand Pie is precisely what you want it to be: a sweet grown-up Pop Tart! And that, our food friends, is a good thing!
We love the simplistic design: strawberry-flavored glaze, white pearls, and a scattering of freeze-dried strawberries.
The hand pie is a decent size, but even though it’s fairly sweet, we don’t know if we’d want to share. The flaky pastry has a great texture, and the filling is sweet strawberry.
This would make a great breakfast as you stroll to your first attraction or a sweet accompaniment to a cuppa tea.
The Key Lime Tart is a delicious — but very tart!! — addition.
The tart consists of a graham cracker base, super-tart key lime custard, and more lime in a thin layer of jelly.
The jelly has a little luster dust in it, plus a sprinkling of chartreuse pearls, a dollop of cream, and a white chocolate daisy. The flavors are distinct here, but you really need to love a tart treat in order to enjoy this.
Carrot cake is kind of a thing around here, so we loved the Carrot Cake Cupcake!
The garnishes are sweet and simple: a butter cream carrot, spring-y flower sprinkles, and a soft dusting of graham cracker.
And check out that frosting-to-cake ratio! Cream cheese frosting for the win! There’s no filling in this cupcake, and that’s fine by us! It was moist and flavorful — a true classic and a must-get.
Finally, for the chocolate lovers, we have the Minnie Candy Brownie. This is chocolate on chocolate on chocolate — and you’ll need to be into that for this to work for you.
The dense brownie features chocolate pieces in the mix, plus there’s a chocolate glaze under a swirl of chocolate buttercream. The whole thing is topped with candy pearls and a white chocolate Minnie bow.
And if there’s anything we can impart to you today, it’s that we hope you find someone (yourself included!) who looks at you the way Minnie looks at this brownie. 😉
Jolly Holiday remains not just a gem of Disneyland and Main Street, U.S.A. but also a must for the gems guests find in its pastry case. Hurry in for your sweet bite of spring!
