We’ve been raving about this Magic Kingdom snack for YEARS, and it’s still going as strong as ever!
There are TONS of iconic snacks around Magic Kingdom. From savory options like the rotating flavors at the Spring Roll Wagon to sweet treats like the giant cinnamon roll at Gaston’s Tavern, we could literally spend our entire day just eating our way through the park (and we often do exactly that)! And, as experienced Disney World snackers, we feel it’s our duty to check in and make sure you aren’t missing out on one of our all-time favorite eats in Magic Kingdom!
Tucked into a quaint corner of Liberty Square is the small-but-mighty quick service restaurant, Sleepy Hollow Refreshments. It can be easy to miss since it’s a bit nestled away, and people passing by are often making a beeline to get to a nearby attraction like Haunted Mansion or Cinderella Castle. But trust us, if you skip this spot, you are seriously missing out!
The menu here is typically centered around waffles and funnel cakes with various toppings, with a few other items rotating through as well. But we’re here to talk about one specific waffle that has held a special place in our heart (and stomach) for years — the Waffle with Fruit & Chocolate-Hazelnut Spread.
Everything about this treat is a winner from literally top to bottom! The waffle has a thin, crispy edge that gives way to a soft bite in the center. Even though it’s more delicate than the denser Mickey Waffles you’ll find elsewhere around the parks, this waffle is still seriously filling. Which is great because it makes this a shareable snack!
It’s topped with a chocolate-hazelnut spread (think Nutella), bananas, berries, and whipped cream. We typically get a pretty generous portion of fruit with it, which is perfect for balancing out the other rich, sweet flavors. Our only nitpick is that sometimes we’d prefer a bit more chocolate-hazelnut spread than what we end up with, but we’ve always been able to make it work by spreading it out as needed!
This snack hits all the big wins for us — it’s a perfect mix of flavors, filling enough to either share or have as a full meal, and a great deal at under $10! Oh yeah, and to top it all off, it’s also eligible as a snack credit on the Disney Dining Plan! With all those major pros going for it, is it any surprise that the Waffle with Fruit & Chocolate-Hazelnut Spread has earned a spot on our must-try snack list for years?
If you’re a big fan of the menu at Sleepy Hollow like us, another spot to add to your snack tour on your next trip to Disney World is the Funnel Cake Stand in EPCOT. Much like Sleepy Hollow, it’s a smaller spot that sometimes doesn’t get its flowers compared to the TONS of other heavy hitters in the park. But, also like Sleepy Hollow, they’ve got some seriously incredible topped funnel cakes, which regularly rotate out for the different EPCOT festivals and seasons. If you’re already a Sleepy Hollow convert, swing by the Funnel Cake Stand the next time you’re in EPCOT to try the latest flavor they’ve got on deck!
