If you’ve been following the Great Straw Saga at the Disney Parks, you know all about how Disney has transitioned away from single-use plastic straws and toward paper straws. (Catch up here, if single use plastic straw sagas haven’t been your thing!) But you might’ve been wondering — as we have — how long it would be before Disney got on board the reusable straw wagon.
Wonder no more: for reusable plastic straws have been spotted for purchase in the Parks of Walt Disney World! Thanks to intrepid Insta-pal @nicklebeen for sharing this pic with us! This pack of reusable plastic straws feature images of some of our favorite Disney Parks treats: Mickey Waffles, Dole Whip, Mickey Ice Cream Sandwiches, Churros, and more!
These straws were found at Chester and Hester’s in DinoLand. We expect that reusable plastic straws will appear on lots of retail shelves in the Disney Parks, and as we spot ’em, we’ll share ’em!

Carrying disposable for my special needs son who can’t use anything else.
So… Disney takes away the plastic straws to save the planet… and then Disney offers plastic reusable straws for sale, which could be lost and go into the environment but only these new costly straws can be lost and cause even more issues for the planet? Brilliant marketing move for Disney… making money on something they used to give for free.
Do we have a price?
We are planning on carrying our own plastic straws.
Sandra, we’ll check on this next time we’re in the Park, but ShopDisney has a set (same number of straws with different design) for $9.99.
Disney has always offered Disney themed reusable plastic straws for purchase – they are just very hard to find. Used to sell them in MK in MoriMoto’s and the Emporium, as well as MouseGears in Epcot. What’s odd about this is that you cannot bring ANY plastic or metal straws into Animal Kingdom park; they will be confiscated at the gate. Poor retailing decision to sell in AK if you ask me!
Who wants to have to wash & keep up with a reusable straw?!?
Was just at Disneyland and purchased these along with a churro carry pouch – Made me so happy every time i opened the churro to grab a straw.
I will carry disposable straws for my family. Not much more work than carrying reusable straws and cleaning them. There are disposable recyclable straws on the market, but that would cost Disney money.
Julia – it’s not always about “costing Disney money.” In California it’s now against state law to provide plastic single-use straws, recyclable or not. We get all those terrible paper straws here in DL and DCA. =(
Disney is well-known for unifying their park policies (and merchandise, etc), so I have a feeling they are doing the same thing regarding straws at WDW. It’s only a matter of time before a plastic straw ban kicks in over there anyway…
Good for you, Julie! Beat Disney at their own game!
They have officially become a monster…Poor Walt!
Paper straws and no lids are a recipe for disaster especially in Animal Kingdom. Not a pleasant Disney experience. Drinks are expensive without losing a portion of them being spilled by children. So no, not a fan of paper straws which disintegrate in the heat and humidity! Selling reusable straws is adding insult to injury.
Reusable plastic straws require a straw brush in order to truly clean the straw.
I also think that Disney has gone overboard in nickel and diming us! But I understand how important it is to the environment to use as few one use plastics as possible. And the straws and lids are a danger to the animals at AK. I suggest that if you prefer a lid and a straw, purchase an adult “snippy cup”. I see that Disney is offering a Lion King themed cup with lid and straw—-will probably cost $10! Or you can go to a dollar store or Walmart and buy a plan one for just a few dollars. If you have DDP and get a FREE refillable mug. Fill it up before you leave your resort and then in the park get a drink and pour it into your cup. Still creating waste with a disposable cup. It’s too bad that you couldn’t just hand the server your cup and have them fill it! Maybe in the future…..
We live in Orlando and went to see a movie recently at Disney Springs. The paper straws were an absolute NIGHTMARE to use in our drinks. They began to disintegrate after a bit, making them completely unusable. We each went through about 4 paper straws a piece by the time it was all said and done. We will bring our own plastic straws from now on. For the prices they charge at the theater, the very least they could do is provide a decent, working straw for our drinks. This PC paper straw nonsense is for the birds.
