If you’ve been following the Great Straw Saga at the Disney Parks, you know all about how Disney has transitioned away from single-use plastic straws and toward paper straws. (Catch up here, if single use plastic straw sagas haven’t been your thing!) But you might’ve been wondering — as we have — how long it would be before Disney got on board the reusable straw wagon.
Wonder no more: for reusable plastic straws have been spotted for purchase in the Parks of Walt Disney World! [Read more…]
Each time we visit Disneyland we see more signs of the resort moving towards the elimination of single-use plastic straws. Last week we saw the first paper straws in Disneyland Park at Hungry Bear Restaurant.

This week we found paper straws at many more of Disneyland’s counter service locations, including Stage Door Cafe, Rancho Del Zocalo, and Galactic Grill. Just a few weeks ago two of these locations were still using plastic straws and lids.

Refillable amenities have been spotted by the DFB team at Port Orleans French Quarter, Caribbean Beach, Boardwalk Inn, and All-Star Music resorts.
But today, the DFB team has learned that some table service dining locations are starting to put plastic straws on a “request only” status for adults.
Disney has just announced that — in an effort to increase environmental stewardship — the company “will eliminate single-use plastic straws and plastic stirrers at all owned and operated locations across the globe” by mid-2019.
According to the announcement, this change will amount to a reduction of more than 175 million straws and 13 million stirrers annually. [Read more…]
