Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground
provides an outdoorsy adventure in the midst of the hustle and bustle of a Disney World vacation. From Trail’s End to Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue, we LOVE everything Fort Wilderness has to offer.
And Happy Campers planning a trip to Fort Wilderness will want to know about a new campsite category available for booking on Disney World’s website — the Premium Meadow Campsite.
We’ve confirmed that the location for this campsite category is NOT new, but the category itself is. Premium Meadow Campsites will be situated close to amenities like the Bike Barn, Meadow Trading Post, and Campfire area, while there is no location guarantee for Premium Campsites.
Given the difference in location, Premium Meadow Campsites cost slightly more per night than Premium Campsites. As an example, for dates in January 2020, Premium Campsites cost $116 per night while Premium Meadow Campsites cost $126 per night.

I don’t stay at Fort Wilderness, but I keep reading about Disney is raising prices for this, and for that, they will now charge for this and that. I can’t figure out why the constant different price hikes, unless they’re deciding to pay their cast members in the parks a better wage. Why the need to find new things to add a cost to? I get raising prices of hotel rooms, tickets, even food, but separating room levels by the smallest differences possible just to add a cost or charging hotel guests to park is getting excessive.
I love Disney, and yes, I will admit that I will still pay the ridiculous amounts of money it costs to enjoy a vacation there. I just feel the need to voice my exasperation since I already have to save for quite awhile to be able to take a Disney vacation.

I have been staying at the Fort since they first opened. My husband and I love it more than anything, however, I just paid $160/nite for a CAMPSITE over Memorial Day. Hotels rooms are cheaper (even some at Disney). This is absurd. And now to raise the prices more for existing sites that are just renamed? The Fort will already be overrun with guests from the new DVC they are basically building it IN the Fort – those guests will have the ability to access all activities at the Fort, I am sure, but you can bet that the lowly campers will not be allowed in the DVC pool areas. The Wilderness Lodge was way close enough to the Fort. The Fort will never be the same again after Reflections is complete. They already had to close the BBQ area and relocate the stable because of this. And we were told that the bike path to the Lodge will be closed for up to 3 years, we were not able to use it Memorial Day. They need to add another large pool to the Fort, or make the existing one larger – all the hotel pools had huge makeovers, the Fort pool only got a water slide, the toddler area, and the “deep end” removed. Yes, we love the Fort and Disney, but the ticket prices and the resort prices are out of control for the average family.

Jessica:
It’s their way of trying to lower the crowds across property, which obviously isn’t working.
Carol Orloski says
Building more resorts with more rooms on property is going to raise the crowds!

In my opinion they want to push the campers out. Every resort on that lake people pay a minimum of $380 a night to stay there. The Grand Floridian is minimum of $624 per night . They really don’t need us. This DVC reflections resort is a total ruin of the landscape. The Bay lake will be littered with Posh upscale resorts . They claim to be conservationist yet just basically tore down a wildlife refuge. The campground has an abundance of deer now . There are trendy solar fields where trees and animals could live . And they call it going green LOL They could have rehabbed the area of River country and let the surrounding resorts enjoy it for generations to come. My kids and I are sad the Back Yard BBQ is gone . It was always packed Why get rid of it. Now instead you’ve gotta be a “club” Member and stay in a lavish villa on what was a beautiful beach area . I was a great fan of Disney world all my life until recent times. We now have use them or loose them passes. I may not return. I don’t want to see the memories destroyed . And take second saddle to the DVC

My family started staying at Ft Wilderness campground over New Years the first year they opened when sites were $12.00 a night. A few years later when they started charging more for the 100 to 400 loops. We would make reservations for the next year on our favorite site and alot of the same families would be there year after year.
