We first reported in July about a potential walkway that would finally connect the Grand Floridian to Magic Kingdom directly by foot!
There’s been much a buzz about one of Walt Disney World’s earliest resorts, Grand Floridian, with the recent opening of The Beauty & The Beast inspired lounge, Enchanted Rose, as well as the recent installation of the beloved Gingerbread House. So what’s been going on with that neighboring construction?
We’re happy to report that it seems that construction is moving along for the potential walkway. While this resort amenity hasn’t been officially announced by Disney, the company has received a permit for this long-awaited development. On a recent ride in the sky via the Monorail, we spied with our little eyes progress on the potential walkway!
Can’t you just imagine a nice leisurely stroll between Polynesian Resort and Grand Floridian with a direct path to Magic Kingdom? It would certainly alleviate some of the traffic experienced at the monorail surrounding fireworks time.
We have seen a bit more progress on the bridge and Cast Members seem to be hard at work.
We’ll keep you posted on this very welcome addition to the Seven Seas Lagoon!

Hopefully Disney will confirm it soon. Until they do, I won’t get my hopes up.
We are staying there in April, and I hope it will be open. The walkway is a big reason why we are staying at the Contemporary next month.

We were on the boat from Wilderness Lodge to MK on Nov 1st, and the captain on our boat said that a walkway was indeed being built, as well as a drawbridge for watercraft to pass through. He said that it’s tied to the wider project of expanding the MK to have 5 docks at the entrance. Likely for all the traffic expected for the 50th!

All I can say is that child better be strong to hold the walkway in picture 2!!!
DFB Sarah says
Frank: superhuman strength!
