We’re feeling EXTRA patriotic tonight!
That’s because we’ve just had the opportunity to try some of the food coming to the NEW Regal Eagle Smokehouse in Epcot! If you know DFB, you know we love news that we can eat and that’s just what we got!
The new quick-service restaurant is set to open THIS MONTH in the American Adventure Pavilion, so we’ve been waiting patiently for a full menu, well we still don’t have a full menu but we’re one step closer with the deets of a bunch of new food items from Regal Eagle.
So, let’s talk about those eats!!!! We started off by trying the Toybox Tomato Salad which is a yummy and refreshing blend of peas, tomatoes, onions, and a basil vinaigrette.
Next up, we’ve got a vegetarian option. That’s right, a vegetarian option at a Smokehouse! The Vegetarian Braised Greens are a pretty hearty option.
Then we tried out the menu item we were most excited for: the Sliced Hardwood Smoked Pork. It IS a Smokehouse so we had big expectations. The pork wasn’t too dry and was ok overall. Note! Disney shared that this dish won’t be served this way when Regal Eagle opens, but it gave us a good idea of what to expect.
Movin’ on…we’ve got a plant-based option! The Smoked Impossible and Quinoa Terrine was pretty good but was a little too smokey. It kinda made us think of the library burning scene on Spaceship Earth!
To go with our meal, we had a sampling of three Regal Eagle sauces. We got to try the Honey Mustard Sauce (likely the Tangy Mustard Sauce), the Smokey Barbecue Sauce (maybe the Vinegar-based sauce?), and the Spicy Barbecue Sauce (Spicy Mop Sauce). We’re expecting four housemade sauces in the restaurant, so this gives us a good idea of what we can look forward to. All three were good but our fave was the spicy; it had GREAT flavor and wasn’t too hot.
And as the perfect side, we had the yummy Roasted Cornbread…
…complete with light, and DELICIOUS Whipped Butter. Honestly though, butter on cornbread? You can’t go wrong!
Overall, this sneak peek really filled our stomachs and got us SUPER PUMPED for the opening of Regal Eagle! We’ll keep you posted on a full menu and an opening date so that you can try allll these tasty new offerings for yourself!
Disney also shared a new piece of concept art for the new restaurant! Doesn’t this spot look like THE place to be in Epcot? We can’t wait to check it out!

Well, that’s another restaurant that I can’t eat at. Really, Disney is making it hard for me to find a place to eat. I’ve had ulcers that almost killed me because I was bleeding internally and didn’t know it until I was days away from dying. I can’t eat spicy foods anymore, so this place is out for me. I’m very disappointed in the way Disney food is going. I know they are going for the people with the need to eat “good food”, but really, they aren’t catering to people like me at all. I don’t like all of the fancy stuff they are serving now, I just like plain old American food, it seems like my taste for food got ruined by the blood transfusion I had. I used to love Mexican food and barbecue, but I just don’t have a taste for it anymore.

Finally a review of something which doesn’t have cheese in it. I’m allergic to cheese which means I can’t eat 99% of what you review.

The fact that you said the pork ‘wasn’t too dry and ok” tells me this restaurant is essentially an updated version of the cruddy restaurant it’s replacing. I knew as soon as they said it was gonna be BBQ, it would be a disappointment.
Cruzer says
My disappointment is that it doesn’t seem like they’re actually trying to cover different American BBQ traditions. Memphis, Kansas City, St. Louis, Texas, and North Carolina are all famous for different dishes/styles of BBQ. It looks like this will just be a pricier (and not as good) Flame Tree BBQ.
I’m not keeping my hopes up that the craft beer selection will actually be from craft breweries; I’m sure they’ll be under the Annheiser-Busch or Coors parents.

Cruzer, they have highlighted that Regal Eagle will have four different house-made, regional sauces. But we’ll have to dig into this when it opens.
BF says
What’s in the cornbread? It looks like something green, i really hope they don’t follow Polite Pig’s lead and put jalapenos in it. What happened to good ol’ fashioned cornbread?
TMarie says
ummm…BBQ is only spicy if you want it to be…usually by choosing that in a sauce…
DFB Sarah says
BF, it was jalapeno at the preview, so we’ll have to see if that carries over to the full menu.
Kate says
It’s Rome burning in Spaceship Earth, not the library’
Michelle says
Are they really not going to accept dining plans as I saw on the DW site?
DFB Sarah says
Michelle, we expect they will; the webpage will likely be updated when the restaurant opens, but if it’s not, we’ll ask when we’re there.
